Embattled media mogul Martha Stewart is said to see a political conspiracy behind the deepening investigation into her questionable stock trades, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
"Martha really believes it is the Republicans who are behind this -- and they are chasing her for purely political reasons," a Stewart intimate said this weekend.
"Martha told me that she believes they are doing the very same thing to her, they did to President Clinton. What Ken Starr did. She believes it is nothing short of a witch hunt! They are even digging into her private e-mails! They are demanding to know who she's dated. Martha said to me, 'Can you believe they want to know who I'm dating?' Republicans on Capitol Hill are probing her sex life!"

The close Stewart friend, who demanded not to be named out of fear of being dragged into the investigation, spoke just hours after Justice Department officials sacked her stockbroker's offices - removing boxes of evidence related to the ImClone stock scandal.
"Who runs the Justice Department? Republicans. Who runs the House of Representatives, and these committees looking into Martha? The Republicans," said the Stewart friend. "Guess who is a major force in raising money and contributing to Democrats?"

The close Stewart friend predicted Americans will rally behind Stewart the same way many did with President Clinton during his impeachment.
"Once all the facts come out about this abuse of power, about these subpoenas, which ask for every detail on Martha's very private life, people will come to her side."
A spokesman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee strongly denied congressional investigators are being motivated out of any political concern and noted questions about a subject's personal contacts with other individuals are standard.

I don't think that Martha is necessarily a substitute for Hillary, but I DO think that excessive investigation of her life will be used by the Rats as "proof" that the Republicans are mean-spirited, sex-obsessed, misogynists.
I don't see how they can do that. This is an investigation into one phone call, and whether or not she was tipped off. Sex doesn't enter into it, unless she got hot and heavy with the commodities trader in that 11 minute call. And if she did, Martha Stewart being in the throes of passion is, as I say, not something civilised people want to know about.
Did she or did she get a tip she shouldn't have. If the Republicans stick to that, I don't see how the Democrats can spin it as being somehow mean-spirited. Meanwhile those of us who think Martha is just another Hillary, can watch the fun of her Gotterdammerung. ;)

The Republicans need to be very careful about this, in my opinion. If they stick to phone calls and documents, they will be ok.

If she was a white, male, comservative she would be in handcuff's all ready.
She should be convicted of stupidity.
And, of course, in everyone's rush to political correctness, she is STILL a member of the BOD of the NYSE.
The Dems can NOT use this tactic; not now and NOT for Martha ! If they even try it, they'll be laughed at. Either Martha and ALL of those who had a hand in the insider trading are looked at, or they're not. If they're not, then the blame falls on the Dems !
Martha has had more than just this run in, with the Enquirer, and don't forget that she folded, the last time. It's not her " sex life " , which is the nub of their story. I read most of it, whilst waiting in line at the grocery store. They were chiding the Microsoft guy, who talked about it, BUT , and here's the INTERESTING part, spilling beans about yet MORE insider trading that he and Martha had been involved in. I doubt that the Republicans will even touch whatever she and he did sexually. One hopes that they get to the bottom of the insider trading matter, though. :-)
Martha is nuts ; has been for decades. This bald faced attempt to " pull a Hillary " , won't get her anywhere. WHY ? Well, first of all, Martha Stewart is NOT a politician , a politician's wife, holds NO elected office, and nether the committee, nor the SEC are looking into her sex life. There is NO " Special Prosicutor " and frankly, she just looks like a moron, for even bringing this up. This has NOTHING , whatsoever, to do with Hitlery, and anyone who imagines that it does, is falling for Martha's spin.
Now, don't you feel just a wee bit silly, for having fallen for such a palpable fraud, perpitrated by Martha, the high priestess of fraud ?
