Embattled media mogul Martha Stewart is said to see a political conspiracy behind the deepening investigation into her questionable stock trades, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"Martha really believes it is the Republicans who are behind this -- and they are chasing her for purely political reasons," a Stewart intimate said this weekend.

"Martha told me that she believes they are doing the very same thing to her, they did to President Clinton. What Ken Starr did. She believes it is nothing short of a witch hunt! They are even digging into her private e-mails! They are demanding to know who she's dated. Martha said to me, 'Can you believe they want to know who I'm dating?' Republicans on Capitol Hill are probing her sex life!"

The close Stewart friend, who demanded not to be named out of fear of being dragged into the investigation, spoke just hours after Justice Department officials sacked her stockbroker's offices - removing boxes of evidence related to the ImClone stock scandal.

"Who runs the Justice Department? Republicans. Who runs the House of Representatives, and these committees looking into Martha? The Republicans," said the Stewart friend. "Guess who is a major force in raising money and contributing to Democrats?"

The close Stewart friend predicted Americans will rally behind Stewart the same way many did with President Clinton during his impeachment.

"Once all the facts come out about this abuse of power, about these subpoenas, which ask for every detail on Martha's very private life, people will come to her side."

A spokesman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee strongly denied congressional investigators are being motivated out of any political concern and noted questions about a subject's personal contacts with other individuals are standard.

Thanks for that link. It is virtual proof that Bush was not beholden to Lay. Not only was this written in February, but take a look at the liberal weasel words of inuendo. There isn't a single fact that any quid pro quo existed. So what was the link the dims have on Bush?

Ladies, ladies, our new heroine is the divine Nigella Lawson! She cooks real food, in her real house, with her real children running about and makes no bones about the fact that faced with the choice between eating and skinniness, she very definitely chose eating.

Go to any search engine. Type "Bush + Lay" You'll get hundreds of web sites that have very long lists. Heck they were in the same fraternity at Harvard. They are buddies.

My assertion is that if Lay doesn't go to prison the Dems will use it in negative campain ads against Bush. Fair or not.

Lay is a weasle. He should be in prison , Just like Clinton. Bush shouldn't pay any political price to protect him.

This is wonderful. In Ann Coulter's new book, "Slander," she points out how Clinton rallied all the liberals by reminding them how much they all hate Republicans. Sure enough, they all promptly forget about perjury, obstruction of justice, lying in the face of a federal judge, etc. They rallied to the call "We mustn't let the evil Republicans win!" Preposterous as it sounds for Martha to try floating this, it may well "flip" all the media left, who up until now have loathed her for engaging in the crime of promoting elegant homemaking, the worst of bourgeois sins, especially to the feminists. Now she becomes an icon, a victim of prudish forces who would overturn the 1960s and the sexual revolution (shudder!). We'll see: it's a long shot, but she's in deep trouble and maybe it's her only chance. My guess is that since she exercises no political power, the 'rat party won't try to help her. Another interesting aspect is that this tactic of hers tends to put a democrat label on corporate scandal -

Actually, I was in the grocery store today, and say the cover of " THE NATIONAL INQUIRER ". There, in big letters, was a headline screaming about Martha Stewart's " sex life " ! Will wonders never cease ? I took a peek, and lo and behold, it seems that while she was " seeing " some guy from Microsoft, he was diddling the wife of one of the Quaid brothers. During the divorce proceedings, the wife and he got into an arguement, and he, so the story went, divuldged the lurid details of his sexcapades with Martha and ... MORE INDSSIDER TRADING stuff. This, THIS , is what Martha is scared @#*^less about. :-)
