I went to the STE as well (at the Hilton), and got the picture of me sitting in the NG Captain's Chair (actually sprawled therein, wearing my shades). I went on Friday afternoon.

I wonder when they filmed the scenes with Stewart, Frakes, and Burton for the displays and during the ride? The lady next to me almost threw up in the Goddard - I was desperately trying to clean out a plastic bag to use as a makeshift airsick bag to hand to her, but she survived until the end without spraying the rest of us.

Did you know that the big model of the 1701-D hanging in the exhibit was the original one used in the filming of the series? The Klingon Bird of Prey was the one used in First Contact.

His Royal Podness invited Himself in the interest of burying the hatchet.

Which I, though unaware there was a hatchet, appreciate. It was great chatting with you!

I appreciate your post. And I don't doubt for a moment that plenty of excellent ideas were proffered at the conference.

My comment has more to do with the personal bits of ugliness, deception, character assasination, and attempts to ostracization that caused me to leave the FAB and have so disappointed me on the forum in general.

If your wives don't mind, perhaps you, KC and I could get things rolling early come October with a discussion of whether or not circumstances or intent change the essential nature of an action or idea. I don't believe so.

I think if you're going to claim the high road, you've got to walk it. I believe any victory won in the least bit underhanded fashion ultimately is doomed to be Pyrrhic in n nature.

Maybe it's different for those, like me, who must remain vigilant the rest of their lives against the temptation to succumb once again to certain mindsets and/or tactics essential to the left.

You know how former smokers can be. I guess you could consider me a former smoker of leftist ideology. I would never have described myself as a leftist and I was by no means a Green or a Democrat or a Libertarian. But at heart I did share their disdain for human beings ... knew full well that most humans were long pigs who could be manipulated -- with repetition, slogans, fear, intimidation, terror -- like the base, selfish, passionate animals they were at heart.

That was a great piece of work.

The Million Marxist Mom sign-up sheet with three names on it -- two of which were crossed off after the debate -- really says it all.

I agree. You can, however, use some of tactics that the other side uses and still walk the high road.
One that I would agree to use is attack, attack, attack. Not smear, defame, sling mud, etc but if you have to go on the defensive you have lost much of your momentum.
The left does this ALONG with smearing, etc.
I want to get my licks in too.

Do you really think the people reading this thread are too dim to see that even as you moan about being abused and victimized, you continue to attack and attack and attack?

Jealous?

Oh yeah, just a bit ;) Last trip I made up to Canada was for the Stampede in Calgary. I'll definitely put Vulcan on my list next trip.

(I had the "dome" Star Trek lunchbox when I was in grade school - sure wish Mom had bought two and preserved one in shrink wrap and/or cosmoline. They're worth a fortune these days).

"Spiral Sue is my Curly Girl soul mate! She spotted my curly hair denial a mile away "

Whooooaaaa, Nellie! I have unruly curly hair, also. No one gave me a pep talk about these massive curls. I'm jealous, Dio!

Well, Vulcan is only about an hour and a half to the south. I'd like to say that it's worth the trip, but it's only if you already have to go.

I'm filled with envy. I had to carve mine out of plywood...

Oh, that can't be comfortable.

You women with curly hair. Always whining. I dreamed of having curly hair. I'm instead cursed with thin, straight hair that just likes to bunch up in scarecrow strands and look dirty. You curly types had most of the 80s and the 90's. Even permanents didn't work on my hair.

Rant off... ;-)

Be grateful you have hair. Some of us threw snake eyes in Life's Lottery in that regard ;)

If you think ironing one's hair to get it straight is fun, you're off your blooming rocker, Miss Abner! I never noticed anything whatsoever wrong with your beautiful mane!
