Free Republic Network Conference a Roaring Success! Participants post your comments here

Dear Freepers:

I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.

The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.

The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.

If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.

So did your cat enjoy all that caviar?

Nah... I gave my cat away months ago and fed it to my inner piggy instead. (It was luscious spooned over the salmon pâté ;^)

I didn't take too many notes, mostly because I was talking or getting up to refill my coffee.

My excuse for the poor state of my notes can be chalked up to one Mr. Jack Daniels. He and I cha-cha'ed several times the night before, and I came out the worse for it ;)

Hope you can use what I have though - if there are gaps, let me know and I'll pore through my rough notes and try to fill them in.

It was really great seeing you again!! I just wish we could have spent more time chatting. The weekend was far too short.

See you at the next one. xo!

Abner is right. I was never in the closet about my "Trekness."

OPH has been sworn to secrecy about the action figures, though.

If the DC chapter is the "targeted group" (clearly you've been taking victim lessons from Askel) how is it that you're here adding a few more cheap shots, and we leave your stuff alone?

Oh, and what was that about "tag team tactics"?

Obviously it kills you guys to see our friends from FRiva saying nice things about the FR Network. Why not just stick with your freepmail character assassination campaign, and leave these good folks alone?

And thank you Liz, for helping to make the thing run smoothly with a sense of humor and grace, and for outing yourself as a closet trekker

Really? I didn't know that! BUMP from a not-so-closeted Trekker who can tell you what kind of soup Spock likes best ...

At least now they're upfront about the fact it's our duty to embrace the "winning" tactics of Bolsheviks and tailor our strategies to the left's playing field.

Askel5, you've met me so please don't think I'm flaming or talking down.

Many tactics and/or strategies are value nuetral, meaning that either side can use them without lessoning tha values that they espouse. Even when they are NOT value nuetral, and we would not use them, we need to study them in order to plan an effective countermeasure.
I heard no one at the conference, speaker or attendee, say that we need to use ALL the demonrats tactics or strategies. There are some tactics and strategies, however, that would be suitable for a conservative to use also.
Please don't misunderstand me, I don't agree with some of the tactics used by demonrats but there are some that they use with much greater success, that we COULD use also with just as much success if we only would. Many times, IMO, a conservative will NOT use the very same tactic ONLY because the demonrats use it.
Just because a demonrat uses a particular tactic/strategy does not mean that a conservative cannot use the same tactic/strategy, as long as it is not counter to the integral core belief that is needed by all conservatives.

I am a big trek fan. Bob, Nick Danger, lowbridge, OPH and I took a quick trip over the Star Trek Experience on Sunday.

It's a neat place to visit and they have lots of great Trek goodies. (No, I didn't buy the uniform dress....yet)

Someone used the example of AnnaZ cleaning some male's clock at some 2d Amendment debate in the recent past.

Oh, Bleccccccch(pitouie!), you mean the lawyer-husband of the Million (sic) Moms: TKO-Liberty Belles Trounce "Million Moms"

You really are a piece of work. What makes you think that I am pro-abortion? Regardless of your rantings I am a "government shouldn't be in the abortion business" type that hopes that prospective parents would make the correct choice to bring an unexpected baby into this World rather than aborting it. That said, it is inappropriate for the government to dictate the outcome of a choice that ought to be made between a woman and her physician.

Spin your opinion of me as you might, but I believe that my view is more consistent with the vast majority of voters than your hardline stance or that of the radical government sponsored free abortions for everyone types. I think the GOP is responsibly trying to capture the hearts and minds of the larger voting block, that will in turn allow them to set policies that "keep the government out of the abortion business," thus protecting the majority of unplanned babies. Your all or nothing approach only prolongs the state of affairs that you find so objectionable. And that is the real tragedy.

Perhaps I can live without seeing Laura Ingraham in person, but I REALLY wanted to meet the elusive Snow Bunny. :(

My (depressed) sentiments EXACTLY!!!
