BAGHDAD, Iraq, Aug 15, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Iraqi authorities have ordered Baghdad residents to stay put and warned that their money and property will be confiscated if they leave the city without permission, according to a well-informed source. The measures were taken, the source said, to prevent people fleeing in anticipation of a U.S. military strike. Copyright 2002 by United Press International.

EMP? ... unnecessary ... cruise missiles can drop carbon fiber over the substations just like they did in 1991 ... this creates a substantial repair job that keeps them offline for awhile ...

This is so they can make sure lots of civilians are killed in our attacks. Then they can cry to the Arab world for help and we can expect to pay $2.00 a gallon for regual Unleaded. Wipe out the whole country I say.

"Niedermeyer" I loved the part at the end of Animal House:
Neidermeyer - Class of '64
Shot in Vietnam, by his own troops
Let's hope the same thing happens to Saddam.

once Saddam and Sons (sounds like a TV show) are dead, the Iraqi people will wipe out the rest of their security forces who have killed for Saddam ... probably 90-95% of the Iraqi military would be relieved to see Saddam gone ...
there's no need to target innocent Iraqi civilians ... surely many of which are living under a ruthless dictator ...

So is the Iraqi strategy down to WMD against Israel and Iraqi dissidents combined with a bunker in Bagdad surrounded by human shields?

If Scott is not up to it? John sure is! He will defend the Regal Beagal to the death!

Dittoes - if this isn't reason enough to go after Saddam, what is? You are right, he just needs more human shields. Seems to be a Muslim thing - Hamas does the same thing.

"C'mon knock on our door,
we'll be waiting for you,
where the kisses are Saddam's, Uday's and Qusay's,
Three's Company too!"
there's a MAD TV episode in there somewhere!

It's a Coward thing & cowards seem to breed in abundance in the Middle East.

Realistically speaking, we're gonna have to go a long way to demonstrate the need for killin' up a bunch of civilians; who are otherwise powerless to change their political circumstances. Saddam and his minions are our enemies;, not the entire poulation of Baghdad! Had the total destruction of the city been our objective, we could have done that long ago, with impunity!

But I thought the Iraqis were all ready to "fight to the death". Silly, you misunderstood! They said they are ready to take flight from death, not fight to the death.
To: mhking
hopefully the Iraqis have whispered to one another where the military targets are (the hidden ones I mean that are detected by EMF triangulation) and will be, at least, a few blocks away when the fireworks begin ...

I guess the fair citizens of Baghdad know something we don't. Let's see, give up my money and property, or stay around to get vaporized by an Israeli nuke, tough call...
