BAGHDAD, Iraq, Aug 15, 2002 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Iraqi authorities have ordered Baghdad residents to stay put and warned that their money and property will be confiscated if they leave the city without permission, according to a well-informed source. The measures were taken, the source said, to prevent people fleeing in anticipation of a U.S. military strike. Copyright 2002 by United Press International.

I am fortunate that I was born in the United States and not in Iraq.

No, they just need plenty of human shields.

In 1941, Stalin simply ordered anyone trying to leave Moscow to be shot. I'm sure Saddam will get around to that shortly.

Exactly...And it must be disconcerting to realize that you are the only thing standing between the bomb, and the target...

Talk about a death sentence. Jeez.
What a horrible, sinister coward he is....
So be it. If Baghdad gets nuked by the Israelis, I guess it's no different than the set of conditions Harry Truman had to face; given the choice of lots of Japanese innocents dying versus the American carnage that would have taken place by invading the Japanese mainland.

Iraqi authorities have ordered Baghdad residents to stay put I have this mental image of Niedermeyer in the middle of the riot at the end of Animal House yelling "ALL IS WELL".

Oh well.... the safety and well-being of the enemy is not our concern. If Saddam wants a "human shield" he should use somebody we give a damn about. They may as well leave anyway and save their lives if they can, I don't think their property in Baghdad is going to be of much value anyway once we start bombing all those military assets that Saddam has planted throughout their neighborhoods.

Yuday (one morning at sunrise): Hey, Dad, you'd better come see this...
Saddam: Holy crap!! Where did all the people go??!! Quick, have my Security Service and Republican Guards begin confiscating their money and property!!!
Yuday: I can't, they left.
Saddam: Where are they??!!
Yuday: I'm guessing they're all sucking down some of those evil dog, American MREs right about now, just outside the city.
Saddam: Yuday, have my driver bring the Mercedes up. We need to leave...NOW!!!
Yuday: Uhhmm....Dad, about the Mercedes....I was out partying last night, and, uhmm...well, you know...

To say the least, Saddam is an evil man period. He is a danger to World peace & to his own people, let us hope that they are smart enough to pop a few caps in his @ss before the bombs start dropping & hundreds of thousands of innocents start dying.

Let Saddam hide in his bunker 200 feet underground and sweat it out for about the next six months. If we were to zap Bagdad with an electromagnetic pulse,it would get pretty uncomfortable down in that hole without electricity, airconditioning, and any radio or telphone communications.

will Scott Ritter be going to Baghdad to protect his beloved Saddam?
