Why don't you zattempt to emulate me, dear ?That works, but I would have said, "zattempt to emulate me, dahlink".
Suggest you combine a few of those things on the Fred list. He's not so great at numbers over 3.

"She agreed with him on a lot of his destructive, crackpot ideas, and now needs to suffer the heat for it." - OPH
What crackpot ideas would that be - the ones outlined in 'The Constitution' and 'Declaration of Independence'?
Please, post JUST ONE 'crackpot idea' posted by Betty Boop on this forum.

There is a loud-mouthed element on FR that are 100%, adolescentally aggrieved creeps. They call themselves "true conservatives" and "real patriots". What they are ... is ... real world life losers. Luis ... they want all their rights, with no attendant responsibility. "Me me me. Mine mine mine." BTTT

"Tell me, - do 'officers of the court' in your areas always pre-judge incidents from newspaper accounts & hearsay, -- as you have in this instance?"Be fair now, do you think that officers of the Court are something other than human?
We all pre-judge everything based on whatever information we have available, and/or that information that we wish to believe.

But what if Albert Einstein (for example) was a new poster here?Einstein was a dedicated socialist. The man's also dead. While neither of those conditions would prevent him from voting in East St. Louis, they seem to inhibit his willingness to post on FR.

She agreed with him on a lot of his destructive, crackpot ideas, and now needs to suffer the heat for it. FWIW, OPH, Don and I disagreed more than we ever agreed. My husband was a witness to some of our regular "screaming matches" over the telephone. But in the end, we always agreed to just disagree if we had to, for (believe it or not) we respected one another. He had his faults -- his sheer stubbornness, his intractibility when it came to questions of his deeply cherished principles -- and I would urge him to be less "doctrinaire" and more "realistic." He would not be the first person not to take my advice, and he's surely not gonna be the last one, either.
One of the most frustrating things about corresponding with some people around here is that people spend more time attributing motives to me than trying to analyze and understand what I actually wrote. As is clearly the case with CJ's statement that I "agreed [with Don] on a lot of his destructive, crackpot ideas...." CJ hasn't got a clue what I think (obviously); and has even less information regarding what Don thought. Same goes for OPH and others. We need much less heat, and much more light, around here, IMHO. There have been times when I've thought I'd stand a better chance of obbserving rational behavior if I were to look in a hen yard....

Nice try, black kettle, but you just made my main point, again.
Thanks.

I encourage all to follow the links you posted. Your concept of a 'crackpot idea' is likely to different from that of many posters.
For example, wondering who in the chain of command was involved in the decisions leading to an officer shooting is not a 'crackpot idea' to me.
One of your links refers to Betty asking a poster if they read the story linked on a thread (I think-the link was not perfect). How can THAT possibly be a 'crackpot idea'.
Now, smearing someone you never met, through innuendo, that is the action of a crackpot, IMO.

I presume you'll have a bleeper handy, eh?
To: Fred Mertz
On the contrary. It's rather overt. I've long admired Askel5 writings and musings.
