Which State is the Armpit of America?
Arthur Wildfire! March

Posted on 08/07/2002 4:23:30 PM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March

Ok fellow freepers. The aristocracy had fun deciding which 'hick town' was the armpit of America. Naturally it had to be rural and conservative. A tad redneck.

They were way off the mark. I would have picked New York prior to 9-11. I mean, good grief. Hellery's husband pardoned bomb terrorists to get her elected, the scandal is exposed to every New Yorker and they elected her anyway? She was silent on the issue for at least a week. But well, perhaps NY had been reborn in blood. So, I'm tempted to give them a pass.

Arkansas? Could that be the armpit of America? The home of NationsBank, Tyson Chicken, Walmart, Web Hubbell, and the Big Creep himself?

Then there is the delightful state of New Jersy, which is batting a thousand at elected scandal-swamped senators. Not only the Torch, but also Corzine.

Some might choose South Dakota. Not only do they keep re-electing Timber Tom [also called Rushmore Daschle], but they also go three days without brushing their teeth. So many choices....

I'd vote for someplace which is at the bottom of the heap on education, incomes, crime, weather and a number of other factors.

What good are those factors if you lose your freedom? How do fresh strawberries taste when you are in chains?

Driving there is a nightmare. It took me an hour to drive from the Miramar to the train station one Sunday afternoon. I nearly missed my train. I'm sure those who live there approve of the no-growth thing, and it sure preserves and enhances your property values. That is exactly the kind of environmnet that attracts the Hollywood types (and your beloved Montecito is full of them, and growing). You will end up like Malibu, with hypocrites on your right and left flank, talking egalitarianism and "the people vs the powerful" and ensuring that none of the hoi polloi can get to the beaches behind their homes, which are public property, because they control the right of way. While I'm all in favor of private property rights, it would be nice if these people would be honest about their self-interest and not try to paint themselves as champions of us peons.

Be all that as it may, I acknowledge that Santa Barbara is very beautiful and I'm glad it's working out for you. Just be prepared to be surrounded by LIBERALS.

You have agreement. I did a consulting gig in Eddystone and had to drive through it after I got off the Barry Bridge. Honey, roll up the windows and lock the door - we're in Injun Country.

When I used to shoot herion our dealer would cop in Chester from some old lady named Betty. She was famous. He eventually got stabbed to death down there.

I watched her show last night. Talk about a waste of thirty minutes.

She sure don't feel no remorse about that old geezer she bilked out of his money after he bit the dust.

As doped up as she acted, she didn't feel much of anything.

Hey, Joe! Look, the Cali bashers are out in full force. Yup, with our beautiful forests, gorgeous beaches, peaceful deserts, and FR'S HOME, we really suck.

I guess they are all mad that we have all our teeth.

Definetly Massachusetts!

For sure...Cali has plenty of various places...mass is a complete s$&thole from slums of springfield to the traffic riddled overcrowded cape. From fat ted to gerry studs, from barney frank to 'tank' dukaka...cali isn't even a close second.

Yeah, I notice that there is OUTRAGE when other states are criticized, but it seems to be open season on California.

California has its bad points, but it has some of the most beautiful scenery in the country, great beaches, decent roads, and most of the state is actually quite conservative, the exception being the large metro areas, and a few coastal liberal enclaves.

Also, the gun laws in California, while far from ideal, and getting worse all the time, don't come anywhere near the police state crap they have in the Northeast and Illinois.

Having read through all posts to this time, I must say I am incensed....NAY!....INSULTED!!

What about Mississippi? We have brought all you the honor(?) of knowing about Trent Lott, America's own WUSSY Senator(?). And what about Bennie Thompson? (You haven't heard about him outside of the 2nd District, huh?) This clod doesn't even have an American flag in his office. (I mean, it's OK....he's only the congresscritter sent from my district.)

I demand Mississippi have fair representation!!!

Only trouble is, we got what we voted for.....even if some of us voted several times and under GRAVE circumstances.

ALAS!!--

Arriving by Bus to Wheeling, W.VA, One Travels along a road between Mountains which Sorely resembles the "View" between "Buttocks!!"

Wheeling, WVA., resembles the "A-Hole" of America!

The Topography of the area, & the "Industrial Effluvium" of the city has created a "Scatological Image" of the City!

I always heard it was the one you were stuck in when you were in the military, and far away from home.

Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world, featuring excellent museums, the best pizza and hot dogs on Earth, and cultural and entertainment opportunities topped only by New York City. Need I go on?

And don't forget to mention its architecture (downtown, that is). The lakefront of Chicago is an urban jewel--NYC had nothing that can top it.
