'Safety bullet' invention aims to prevent accidental shootings
A Florida man claims to have designed a safety bullet which locks up a gun when it's accidentally fired.
Mike Worley says his simple invention takes gun safety to another level.
He came up with the idea after a local boy was shot in his elbow while showing off his dad's .357 Magnum.
The safety bullet can be hidden in the gun chamber and ejected quickly if the owner needs to fire a live bullet.
If the safety bullet is fired, it jams the chamber and locks the gun until the shell is removed with a special tool.
The News Herald reports Mr Worley has applied for a patent for his invention.
He says several companies are interested in his design, and one has started making a prototype.
Mr Worley, from Panama City, says he supports the use of guns and understands why people need a loaded gun as protection.
He said: "I think the safety bullet is a step in the right direction. I don't want fame and fortune. This is a simple device that takes safety to the next level."

Thats good idea. I do it a different way because I usually have mine standing muzzle down in a closet or by washer or something.Muzzle-down storage for rifles or shotguns is never a good idea. You can nick or dent the crown, compromising accuracy greatly.

Laz, I disagree and believe the idea is a fundamentally flawed one when it comes to the very philosophy of gun ownership and use ... per the discussions and comments I have already made.
But that's just me. As I said several hundred posts ago ... this guy is free to push his idea all day long as long ... as nobody tries to make a "law" out of it to force me down that path.

I figure, different strokes for different folks. Some people like safes. Others like trigger locks. Others use training and courses for children. Others, like me, give .22 derringers to schoolkids on their way to school and tell them that these are harmless toys to be played with carelessly.

Been one heck of a day. My ISP kept locking up. I have answered this three times only to have Netscape go into lock mode. I have loaded the newest version and so will try one more time.
To answer your questions - whoever you are.
1. Yes.
2. The Constitution says we have right to bear arms it does not say we need a permit to do that. Yes I think firearm ownership is a privaledge and felons or those that don't have the metal capacity should be able to have guns.
3. I would disband them I believe they are against out rights as provided in the Consititution and the Bill of Rights.
4. Everything up to full auto.
5. Yes.
6. No.
7. Them's fighten words. Hell no!
8. Only if someone wants something serious like a mini gun. Then yes I think he needs to be able to show a good reason for it. If he does than give it to him but let him be checked out by all the ATF or the FBI make sure he is not out to do anything stupid or illegal or subversive.
Did I pass. This is my opinion and if anyone has a comments please let me know.

I store my shotgun by the door, muzzle up, with a small sandwich bag over the end to keep out the dust and spiders. Works for me, same with the rifle.
To: Lazamataz
Email me your address I will send you some in a 40 Cailbur for you to test. Then you can tell everyone you meet that you have tried this and its either crap or as promised.
I think you owe me and everyone else here that. Since you are an NRA trainer you opinion is one that I can respect.

Does anyone else here believe that for the most part, 'safety' and 'bullet' do not belong in the same sentence together?

Thanks once again, for putting your ignorance on display for all. Please keep doing so....

I will talk to anyone about this. Why not? They are pro safety, I am pro safety and most gun groups are pro safety that is why everyone preaches safety courses. I would like to see basic gun education and safety courses taught in school with everything else.
The anti gun crowd is out there looking for every reason they can find to get rid of our guns. Its not going to happen but they are annoying as hell. If all there challanges aren't met they could sneak a law in when we have our guard down so why not keep talking to them find out what they are up to.
If we can work together to make out guns safer and no one else gets accidentally shot that gives them one less reason to come down on gun ownership.

Got any kids that are still alive?Be careful with comments like that. You will offend people, and lose sales.

Why not? They are pro safety,The MMM's, HCI or any of the copycat anti-gun crowd are not pro-safety. They are anti-gun. They don't run any safety courses. They don't promote anything that has anything to do with a firearm.
