I registered on Free Republic 4 years ago today, and that was after lurking for 6 months or so.
Free Republic remains the top internet site for news and opinion. I haven't become bored with it, I haven't found anything better, and I am still addicted.
The Free Republic forum is an incredible and valuable source of news, information, links, and the posters (by and large) are knowledgable and entertaining. Here's to another 4 years ( of George Bush and Free Republic)

Thanks, a few minutes reading and I'm astonished at how much has changed, but how much has remained the same too.
To: Kaslin
I had forgotten mine too. Luckily, I still had the same mailing address.

I had changed my ISP (email addy) so there was no way to check

I don't know about the first question, but when I click on any of the poster names in the old threads it takes me to my own homepage too. Hey, your right! Heehee
John, Bug Report.

Well, the second anniversary of my registration
was yesterday. (Registered 07/29/00, #36376)
I have been lurking like a fiend since 1998, though.
This is only my second post.
However, I did help FReep the pro-Palestinian
unwashed here in S.F. earlier this year. If there is
an award for "Most Outnumbered FReep" that
one must be in the running! Also FReeped the
Creep his own nasty self a couple of times here
in Goofytown. (Gaijin come back! S.F. needs you!)
I, too, can quit any time. NOT!!!
One of my favorite things about FR is recommending
it to left-leaning people who are interested in politics.
If they are smart and honest enough, and have used
the web for political research, it drives them NUTS
that FR is so much better than the lefty alternatives
out there. After all, they're the smart ones, right?!?
This site will never die. Thanks, Jim.

Heh heh, yup, I just read some of those old posts and remember the quidam 'factor' in those days.
Hi Teacup....I too remember the newbie flames, but I recall them more as establishing your Conservative credentials at the same time. Do you remember that too?

Happy 4th anniversary. Come December 9th, I will be celebrating my 5th anniversary here (as SamAdams76). And I haven't even logged off yet! Yes, it is very addictive. Well happy 4th birthday. Isn't it great we don't have to deal with all those Clinton threads anymore?

Just wondering if my original screen name is still registered. It used to be "kencook" or "Ken Cook", I don't remember if it had a space or not. But I changed to SamAdams76 in December '97 because it just sounded cooler than my real name.

The lowest number user to be banned was "turdbird" (user 46).What about the other missing freepers before #46?

Squashed.

Thanks for the links. I don't think anything will ever come along at FR that could possibly match the fun we had in '98. :-)
And quidam, I think it
Oh, never mind. Life goes on. Tell shorty hi for me.

When will old articles be unlocked again?
To: Nita Nuprez
LOL - are you sure you'll shoot me if I try for a free feel? OK - I'd deserve it - but can you aim for the kneecap?
To: Sir Gawain
I'm working on it.
To: John Robinson
It's fun bumping them. :-D
