I registered on Free Republic 4 years ago today, and that was after lurking for 6 months or so.

Free Republic remains the top internet site for news and opinion. I haven't become bored with it, I haven't found anything better, and I am still addicted.

The Free Republic forum is an incredible and valuable source of news, information, links, and the posters (by and large) are knowledgable and entertaining. Here's to another 4 years ( of George Bush and Free Republic)

While I'm one of the first who generally likes to have fun....I would apreciate your effort not to take me out of context...when I'm very serious.

This is not meant to be a slam, by any means....but I truly believe my sentiments and long held/long meant belief in this thing called.....a free republic..might have some signigicant meaning long after many of us are gone.

#2 was a test account. Now whenever there are junk records in the database due to data corruption (we had that happen not too long ago, lost about 5 minutes worth of posts), JohnRob moves them off the system by moving the junked records to this user.

Eric (user 3) was the first to sign up after Jim.

The lowest number poster after Jim who has posted recently is Kathy In Alaska (user 14). All the users between Eric and Kathy In Alaska have never posted since the system counters started working back in 2000.

The lowest number user to be banned was "turdbird" (user 46).

I started lurking way back in the beginning of '98. It was the spring of my freshman year in college. That was the semester that my grades dropped. Seriously. I finally signed up in November of my Sophomore year and I very rarely post. I still spend hours lurkin. I am so addicted it is not funny. I miss reading some of the threads from the early days. It is amazing that I graduated in four years with a degree in engineering. I should have also received one in political science with all the time I have spent here.
