This would actually make sense. Saddam can't sit around and let a build-up take place like he did in Gulf War part une.

These are the same ingrates who would let us launch from their two bit country. Let Saddam over run the ungrateful people of Kuwait.

We have 10,000 troops there. How hard could it be to convince the citizens of Kuwait protection is needed that includes their complete commitment to the war against Iraq? They were occupied by Iraq before and it wasn't pretty, as I recall.

Would Saddam do a pre-emptive attack/strike? Now that's a thought.

Part of the feeling about another US invasion is understandable. GWHB didn't finish the job and Saddam's neighbors had to live with the result. So it is understandable that they are apprehensive of another attempt. If GWB's intent and action takes Saddam out, then the ME neighbors will have a better view. If GWB doesn't, then the ME neighbors have a right, again, to be upset.

Saddam can't sit around and let a build-up take place like he did in Gulf War part une.The only "hope" he has is to throw everything at Kuwait, and just maybe catch us off guard - forcing us to pull out temporarily. It wouldn't take long to bomb them to hell, though, then roll right back in - all the way to Bagdad. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, at this point. I betcha he goes for the "Hail Allah".

Saddam abd his saddamites: "Go ahead, make my day!"
To: Mohammed El-Shahawi
I hope he rolls right on in to Mecca and Medina. The collateral damage we'd cause would (sniff!) be a gosh-darn shame!

....as officials reported an Iraqi buildup near the Kuwaiti border. Ummm, wouldn't this be in the "no fly zone"? Story sounds as phony as what comes out of the NYT.

This would actually make sense. Saddam can't sit around and let a build-up take place like he did in Gulf War part une. Fine with me. Let Saddam fight the last war. It keeps him busy while we set him up for the real attack. This time, I believe he and his henchmen, personally, are probably the main targets -- the Iraqi people probably do not represent any real threat to the stability of the region.
Taking out Saddam is not something that requires an immense military buildup, just good and timely intel of the sort perfected in Afghanistan.

It also wouldn't surprise me if the Iraqi military is in far better shape then we think is.

"Saddam can't sit around and let a build-up take place like he did in Gulf War part one." Saddam doesn't have any choices. If he sends his army into Kuwait again, we'll do an "inside out" on Baghdad. I do expect him to do something though. Any Ideas?

They said Kuwait's allies, particularly the United States, have been consulted in drafting the plan.
Oh, I get it. We're only their allies when they're in trouble.

Let Jesse Jackson mediate a lasting peace. He seems to be able to go anywhere and say anything.

"This would actually make sense. Saddam can't sit around and let a build-up take place like he did in Gulf War part une" It would only guarantee his destruction and make the political side of our job easier. Besides, he couldn't do it.

Oh, the Kuwaitis snuggle right up when they're in trouble. Remember Sept. 11th and the Kuwaitis' pinko reaction. Screw them. Let Saddam have them, then we'll take out Saddam.
To: Mohammed El-Shahawi
Why are we giving Saddam all these advanced warnings?
I have this funny feeling that a "slow war" isn't going to work very well.
