Azzam.com: This website removed for "Terms of Service" (TOS) Violations
Nationwide attention was focused on Azzam.com in the past week. -- front page of USA Today , an article in the prestigious "New Scientist" about Azzam using images posted at it's website for secret communications (stegograms), plus there were many articles in conservative web sites such as this one: American ISP: We're Not Telling You Why We Host Terrorist Web Site
... then a reporter from KnightRidder came knocking ...

I know; it almost sounds threatening to me. Feel free to spread this post far and wide. Their vitriol amazes me. When I speak on behalf of Joy Junction I am very careful about what I say, as it can follow you around--especially on e mail--for a very long time. My words were calculated to provoke a reaction and oh boy what a reaction!! jr

Dear Sir,
I appreciate you taking the azzam.com site down. What happened, did the local media attention get too hot for you?
I suggest that you KEEP it down. Along with many others, I will be closely monitoring your activities to see what you do.
Incidentally, do you have terrorist sympathies? That notwithstanding, I will be looking at your pornographic undertakings next and encouraging others to do likewise.
Sincerely
Jeremy Reynalds

Mr. Reynalds, I dont appreciate, nor do I care what pleases you or not. The fact that you just cant seem to understand that there are bigger things in this world then a peon freelance writer who suddenly thinks there on to something, and goes out of there way to think they have made headway, and actually gotten something done is a joke. Please, pat yourself on the back.
Monitor our activities all you want in the future, your pen, your words and your constant pointed and negative emails do not in any way sway decisions that are made, here or anywhere else.
Furthermore, the fact that you -actually think- you were instrumental in the site in question being taken down is laughable, to say the least. As I stated before, you obvioulsy can't take a hint, and I am sure the people who are responsible for taking it down...will be in touch with you very soon.
I wont even respond to the last part of your once again badgering email, as it is just plain silly for you to even think anyone here has any such feelings.
Grow up, get a real job (as we all know freelance really means unemployed) and report on real news.
I have had enough of the spam emails from you, and whoever else you have so kindly sent my email address to. If it continues, I will see that you are dealt with by the proper authorities.
I'm sorry, but I have had enough.
Good day, Mr. Reynalds.

Jason: I appreciate the response. One thing that I never do is to engage in ad hominem attacks. You see, Jason, I have a problem with what you guys do at burst.net and I never attack you personally because I don't know you.
And I have got to say, if I played no part in seeing the web site get taken down, at the very least I would call it a very strange set of circumstances that saw the site taken down today when one of your local reporters gets to snooping around after he is e mailed a copy of the last story I wrote on you guys.
Jason: one thing that you fail to realize is that s soft answer turns away wrath and that the more determined and rude you get in your responses the more determined I am to see what is going on with your company.
Jeremy Reynalds
P.S. I am not unemployed! I founded and run the state's largest emergency homeless shelter, have a master's degree in communication and am pursuing my PhD in intercultural education!! I pursue terrorist web sites for my relaxation rather than watching much of the mindless drivel that is served up on TV!!

What content at Azzam.com could possibly result in a TOS violation?
REAL SNUFF PORN ON THE INTERNET
Human Lung on a Stick -- served up from Pennsylvania
In Chechnya, April 1996, on a mountain pass near the town of Yashmardi, Al-Qaeda forces were spectacularly successful annihilating a Russian military convoy consisting of about 50 fighting vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, trucks, fuel tankers and led by a single T-80 mine-clearing battle tank. The Mujahideen estimate 223 Russians killed while only 3 of the Mujahideen were "martyred".
"The Mujahideen did not gain any booty from this operation because the convoy was completely destroyed".
But there was a grizzly trophy left on the road -- a human lung: http://66.197.135.110 /~azzam/html/photoshatoi9.htm
The Mujahideen then took photos so they could upload JPEG images to the Al-Qaeda's central web site at www.Azzam.com, hosted by Burst.Net in Pennsylvania, USA.
They also uploaded a video of the massacre which you can now download (requires "Real-Player-7").
It's important to show success stories like these to the entire Muslim world. This improves the response when fund raisers appear in the Mosques asking for money and volunteers to carry out the duty of Jihad.
It's now July, 2002. That picture of the human lung has been at www.Azzam.com in Pennsylvania for years.
It has been downloaded and has been inspiring Al-Qaeda fighters for 6 years.
But, members of the Russian military are not the only ones which Azzam.com wants to kill. The Azzam organization delivered this Fatwa (order) to Muslims through out the world in 1998: "The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies-civilians and military is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it,"...
Bin Ladin's Declaration of War against America: http://66.197.135.110/~azzam/html/articlesdeclaration.htm

Daily news from Al-Qaeda:

I think Azzam is too important to Al-Qaeda for it to be down very long. Anyone want to speculate how long it will be before they "get it back up"?
To: JohnathanRGalt
Jason responded with the following: "Please stop the e mails to my department about this topic. There are inherent reasons why I do not and cannot reply to this same email."
Could that possibly mean our NSA or similar organization was using it to track or locate users??
I'm just trying to play devil's advocate - in case it's a possibility. (Fingers crossed!)

No, didn't miss that. Just don't know what that means because I'm not familiar with those terms. Is it just a generic term or more specific than that?

When someone signs up with an ISP or web hosting service, there is a part of the process where you indicate you have read and understand the providers Terms of Service - it's usually a lengthy document written in lawyerese - that outlines what you can and can not do on thier service - while terms may varry from provider to provider, TOS agreements are very common.
To: Keith in Iowa
Thanks for the information. I just wasn't sure if I was missing some nuance you computer pros understand more clearly than I do.

Could that possibly mean our NSA or similar organization was using it to track or locate users?? That is one of two possibilites that I can think of. Here's a discussion: Azzam has "A Friend in Pennsylvania"

I think Azzam is too important to Al-Qaeda for it to be down very long. Anyone want to speculate how long it will be before they "get it back up"? Oh, they'll just coyly re-name it to SHAZZAM.com and hook up to the ISP owned and operated by this guy:

First, all azzam.com needs is a server someplace. Their current ISP has canned 'em, but there are plenty where those came from. It can even be hosted on a DSL line in someone's home-- that's what I've got.
Wherever they end up, it'll be watched. We should be glad if they end up hosted here in the U.S. again.
To: JohnathanRGalt
Thanks for the ping. Teriffic work! Keep it (replies & communications from all parties) out in the open to protect yourself as you have wisely been doing. You and Jeremy are true heros in my book!
To: JohnathanRGalt
That human lung has been on kavkaz.org a long time ago.
Along with a few other choice Russian soldier body parts.
I remember some of the Russian sites being upset about it.

Hasn't Azzam been down before, just recently in fact? Or was that quoqaz I am thinking of?
Want to see how you made them mad?

If we visit Azzam out of curiosity (or just to know how the enemy thinks so we can be one step ahead) does this mean the FBI is tracking us more so then the average internet user?

good job. I would be armed to the teeth at all times, set up security cameras in front of the house to watch for strange cars, etc. Maybe consult someone. You could put up a site, get donations, start a .org or something. Seems you are doing it for free anyhow, why not do it in a manner that would provide for your complete security?

kavkaz.org -- That's the Chechnya Mujhideen. Why are they broadcasting out of Washington D.C.?

Is this true? The last time I posted and someone looked them up I thought they were from somewhere else.
Do you think movies of Russians being blown up would qualify for a TOS violation?

Grow up, get a real job (as we all know freelance really means unemployed) and report on real news...Blah, blah, blah...This burstnet spokesman, officer, or whatever he is is a real loser with three strikes against him:
1. His grammar leaves a lot to be desired.
2. For an employee or officer of an Internet company, he shows no awareness whatsoever of the growing importance of freelancers, independent consultants and contractors, and other "free agents" in the economy of the early 21st century. This makes me question his competence in other areas.
3. He is an enabler of degenerate and demonic terrorist savages!!!!
---------------------------------------
It's important to show [horribly grisly] success [sic!] stories like these to the entire Muslim world. This improves the response when fund raisers appear in the Mosques asking for money and volunteers to carry out the duty of Jihad.
Do these degenerates REALLY use these videos to raise funds and recruit new jihadis? Anyone who contributes money or volunteers to fight on the basis of these snuff videos has to be as much of a Neanderthaloid savage as the creatures who made the videos!!!!

That's the point! If you can perform atrocities it means your side is stronger because Allah is with you.
