President Bush and First Lady Laura welcome Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski and his wife, Jolanta, to only the second State visit since Bush was sworn in. Bush and his colleague also answered a round of questions from reporters, including more questions to the President regarding his tenure at Harkin oil. The President and his guests attended the State dinner this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

**What happened to Rumsfeld? **

Grammie smacked his hand when he went for the winning pawn.

"red flowers"

Yes, I love them too! Very, very elegant table setting. Not gaudy or overstated. Excellant taste, our Laura.

Our President doesn't drink! Usually he has some type of juice (white cranberry, white grape, sparkling cider, etc.), or water.

There was an article recently (I'm sorry, I can't remember the name of it) by some guy who told the dems they had better stop with the bashing because it was going to backfire on them in November. Boy, I hope he's right.

From the sounds of things on Special Report, there's not much to Haliburton either.

Thanks for posting that for the cable-deprived.

I hope he's right too. And I hope we take back the Senate with a comfortable margin. That is so important. People are more informed today than they were even a year ago and I believe and I hope and pray that the dems finally get what they so richly deserve.

Oh My Gosh that blue sash! She shoulda left home without it. It would have worked in a much subdued shade of something that complimented the beautiful color of her dress !! My fashion consultant eyes are aching.

I don't know, but what it could be is non-alcoholic wine. I thought I saw a different color liquid in each glass when the men toasted, but maybe it's my immagination!

The blue is awful but olliemb said it looks better on TV and it's an Oscar de la Renta! Sheesh...oh well, she still looks absolutely stunning. Oh, and that husband of hers in a tux...whew!

Have to say, those Polish are charming! The kissing of the hand, wow, makes one melt! Who does that anymore?
His wife is a knockout in that black gown, and I agree, it looks better than Laura's. It might be that blue bow thing that is a problem. What is that anyway?

Beautiful thread tonight, the daisies are lovely, I have some in my yard just like them! I wonder why they didn't use mine? I would have donated them gladly! :)

TO tell you the truth, I didn't even notice the bow/belt.

admiralsn, the bow is the only thing I noticed, in an appalling, shocking way! I had to look and look at the photo to figure out what I was missing that would have made that color welcome on that dress, until realizing that it was just a big phatte mistake on the designer's part. Wonder how W complimented Laura on her looks before they went downstairs? (I would have had my eyes pop out and then been unable to hide my dismay!)

Here's the test of whether or not an ensemble works. If the garment detracts from the wearer's face, something needs correcting. The clothing should draw other people's eyes to the wearer's countenance, after which the garment will have plenty of time to be seen.

I read somewhere that you can tell alot about a woman by the shoes she wears. If that's the case, everyone can tell that I'm cheap and like to be comfortable! :o)

What's the Internet emoticon for "chuckle"?

Amen to your post @ 125.

But I like Laura better without the burlap, especially since that was like unto hillary's fav cloth.

I don't get it. The dress looks quite beautiful so why the need for the bow? It cuts Laura in half and is most unflattering. Without the bow, the dress would be quite elegant. Hmmmm...these designers; go figure.

I think you might get some useful data from the (not sure exactly of the title) Center for Media Research, which monitors what the different networks and news sources cover and how much time they spend on each subject. They are not coming from a liberal viewpoint.

C-span commentator says it was an oscar de la renta dress with blue color in the dress and therefore the matching bow.

This just in:

Fashion City, near Paris

We have just received word that Oscar de la Renta is going color blind. No details follow at this time.

Wphile, he looks to me like he's saying, in the most gentle way imaginable, "You want a piece of me over this Harken thing? Get in line and get ready for a big disappointment!"

I think Laura is beautiful, but this might be the first time a visiting First Lady looks better than she does. Gotta give credit where it's due.

Good grief! Who talked Laura into that Turquoise belt with that gold dress? U-G-L-Y!! The dress by itself would have been very attractive, but NOT with that belt. The Polish First Lady looks very classy in her black dress.

Toss the belt, Laura, and give the person who suggested it a quick kick in the butt!

I just found a story on another thread that is taken from the Media Research Center, so I found their URL. This may be to a specific article but it should get you close enough to look for what you want.
