WASHINGTON- Several drivers in the nation's capital were hit with sharp projectiles, perhaps darts fired from a blowgun.
Police said the incidents occurred between 9:30 and 11:00 p.m., EDT Sunday in neighorhoods across the city. A handful were concentrated along the District's New York Avenue, part of U.S. Route 50, which serves as the city's main northeast gateway for commuters and tourists.
In three cases, the six-inch long, razor-sharp projectiles had to be surgically removed.
There was no evidence the darts had been tainted with chemicals or toxins, authorities said, and none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.
Police were looking Monday for as many as three teenagers driving a white Cadillac with tinted windows in connection with the spree.
Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Sgt. Joe Gentile would not confirm the use of a blowgun. He said the pranksters' weapon of choice might also have been some sort of nail dispenser.

HOWever... What I really need to become a better terrorist, is some good commonly-available poison. The South Americans have got curare and poison frogs and a couple of other things I can't remember that are nice and deadly in nice small microgram quantities, but there's hardly anything a good ol' boy like myself, living up here in the temperate zone, can find in the backyard that might work.
HOWever... There is a fascinating quote in Cabeza de Vaca's "Naufragios" about how the Indians in the Texas region had a bush (NO PUNS, WISEASSES -- I CAN SMELL YOU THINKING) that that would kill *anything*. He reported that they used it for arrow poison and that it was so poisonous that if the leaves even fell into water that animals drank it would kill them.
You Texicans know of anything like that down there?
Yep. Great way to break the mother-in-law's cats of chewing on the potted plants. Further resopndant sayeth not.

Stop that, I ain't laughed all day until that quipt. Now I got to change the music to something cheery.
Only if I can get the K-Bar or SOG back they are expensive and I would hate to lose one. What can I say I grew up in a frugal area of this nation.
Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown
Drool has the lowest specific gravity, but is subject to contamination by airborne dust. Loogie is a bit stickier/higher SG, but is sometimes tough to produce on command. Now lung butter is the best of both worlds - smokers have an unending supply and it makes a great lubricant for your projectiles.
So...is the left wing going to insist that we ban all blow guns and nail guns now?
LOL, no doubt.
Yep. That's about as much of a prank as somebody whipping daggers as passersby. Might be the reporter's stupid choice of word...like the choice of "nail dispenser"...or maybe they hope that'll make it easier for the "pranksters" to turn themselves in.
Not good news. Rats eat electrical wiring their rat-doo is corrosive to aluminium. Cats help, but if you haven't got a suppressed .22 Hi-Standard, I guess a nitrogen-powered needle blowgun will do the job.

Not necessarily.

Terrorist alert:
You mean they have outlawed bamboo/river cane, hickory splints, and thistledown?
Bamboo makes a nice little blowgun- the root end of a small cane makes a good reamer to knock the chamber walls out of the large blowgun cane, and if you have a bit of tin can lid you can perforate it and use it to tip the reamer and make it even better. The cane can be cut to whatever length is suitable by using a chert flake or knife to cut a groove around the cane and the cane will neatly snap at that point. A little heat straightens cane if it is needed. Use the big end as the mouthpiece and the natural taper of the cane compresses the air and improves velocity.
As for poison, I reckon any old stinking pile of crap will do...or maybe cane toad or castor bean toxin, both rather common around here and accessible, if there isn't anything in more commercial lying around. Poison isn't worth the bother for small game.
