**I don't hate Christians (though I do sense the hate coming from the Christian direction, especially in the posts on this forum). **
The only 'hate' I saw was coming from you in your anti Christian posts.
To: homeschool mama
Uh-huh. What "anti-Christian posts"? On these forums, I've been reading posts from "Christians" saying atheists should be kicked out of the country, the kids should be beat-up, and so on. I would never suggest the same about Christians.
And I wonder if you'd accuse someone of "furthering his own agenda" if he were the Christian and she the atheist and he didn't want his daughter taught about evolution in public school. I support any parent against the state, atheist or Christian.
To: Tired of Taxes
Newdow USED his daughter as a pawn for furthering his own agenda. What is it you don't understand about that fact? sheesh.
To: homeschool mama
OK, well then I guess Christian parents who want public schools to stop teaching evolution and to start teaching biblical studies are using children to further THEIR own agenda. You can't have it both ways.
To: Tired of Taxes
You just don't get it, do you? How sad to be so blind.
To: homeschool mama
No, actually, YOU don't get it. But that's OK. Go ahead and stick to your double standard, and I'll stick to my principle. This case is about Parent vs. State. In Parent vs. State, I always side with the parent.
To: Tired of Taxes
What's amazing is that many folks on this thread have shared common sense with you and you still don't get it.
Okey dokey.
To: homeschool mama
Maybe you haven't noticed, but this forum is alittle biased, homeschoolmama.
Look, we can disagree on many issues. I have my opinions, too. I think Newdow is flaky, to be honest. I also think a mother should ALWAYS be given primary custody (unless she poses a danger to the child), and that she is alwyas entitled to child support payments.
However, I think a father (unless he is dangerous) is entitled to a say in his daughter's upbringing. We cannot take that right away simply because we personally dislike a man, even if the vast majority dislike him.
I think you're personalizing the issue because you know the mother, and I can understand that.
To: homeschool mama
They were attempting to get away from him and he followed.
She was attempting to keep him from seeing his own child?

Why should she refuse child support payments for a child HE fathered?
Didn't you just say in the last post that she was trying to get away from this man and to take his child with her? If she doesn't want him in her child's life, why should she accept his child support payments? Or does she think fathers are nothing more than wallets with legs?

You assume much but know little.
By law he must contribute to the financial welfare of the child he helped produce. Not all men *do* contribute...and not all women *seek* such contribution. You seem to have a poor view of women with your quip about fathers being nothing more than wallets with legs. Get real.

I agree with you on that.
While Newdow has proven himself to be a flake, the mother of his child certainly has proven herself to be a decent human being in this situation. She is carrying herself with grace and wisdom, seeking what is best for her daughter...and stating her daughter's personal beliefs to settle misconceptions.
Thank you for your thoughtful response. I appreciate it.

Not all women. Just women who seek to deprive their children from interaction with their fathers when the fathers only crime is not being someone the mother wants to be around. Removing this child from her father's life while happily continuing to accept his child support is nothing short of unconscienable.
You said it yourself. "They were attempting to get away from him and he followed." Then you said, "Why should she refuse child support payments for a child HE fathered?" So in your world, a father's physical presence is completely unimportant, but his financial presence is vital. Spoken like a true feminazi.
I don't know what to make of Michael Newdow the man, but Michale Newdow the father has earned my respect.

Just so you know...*I* know the mother and daughter...and know of the grief Newdow has so 'lovingly bestowed upon them'. Give me a break.

Newdow the father used his daughter as a PAWN to further his atheistic agenda. Something to admire? Something to respect? I think not.

What rot.
To: homeschool mama
Michael Newdow uprooted his entire life and moved three thousand miles to be near his child, who was a victim of her mother's selfish and short-sighted attempt to deprive her of her father. Not only did he face the normal difficulties in a cross-country move he also faced the difficulty of re-certifying and re-licensing in California, a process that can take months. Many men would not be willing to do that. Michael Newdow was. My hat is off to him.
Moreover, if I were defending someone who had moved across country for no other reason but to prevent a father from having access to his child, I would not be throwing around words like "pawn". Of course, I wouldn't be defending someone like that in the first place.

Hey flyboy...do you know the mother? the father? Didn't think so. Maybe you should calm down and read the truth of the matter rather than spouting off your anti mother rhetoric.
I pinged you to another thread with some rather interesting information you should consider in post 7 of said thread.
To: homeschool mama
Face it. Michael Newdow may not be a nice person but he is a good dad, and that fact has you so incensed you have resorted to spitting incoherence over multiple posts and threads. Your feminazi efforts to demonize a man who moves 3,000 miles to be nearer to his child, and pays nearly double his annual income to support her, have failed. Clearly it's time for your medication.

Flyboy...you aren't reading the facts. I know the mother and daughter personally. I know the havoc he has caused in their lives. The mother isn't rolling in the dough because there IS no child support coming their way, bud. Hello?!
Why would an ER Doc reduce his hours so severly as to make a pittance of a salary? His child support is 24k...he earns 15k. Who's he fooling. The answer, it would seem, is you.
I would guess you've been down a hard road with an ex-wife and hold great bitterness for her and the $ you must dole out for your kiddos. We have a choice in life...to become bitter or better. I would suggest you seek to put away your bitterness. It's not healthy to hold on to such emotion. You need to move forward onto dry land rather than remaining in muddy water.
I take it as a great insult to be referred to as a feminazi. If you continue to do so I will consider it an attack of the worst kind upon my character.
