USO Canteen FReeper Style....Themeless Thursday.... July 11,2002

.

.

Welcome to the USO Canteen FReeper Style

.

Message from Snow Bunny to all those who visit the Canteen.

This is how I think of the USO Canteen Freeper Style.
It is like a cottage down a road,
a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.

Since it opened, it is magical how so many
Freepers who post here, feel it too.
It has been so dear how the Freepers
kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place
that had a huge living room
for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.

Many Veterans have written to me,
saying that the Canteen is like home
to them for the first time since they served.

This is your Canteen -
a respite from our busy
and sometimes troubling world.
Make yourself at home.

..............................................................................................................................................................................

Thank you SAMWolf for creating the Themeless Thursday.
Thank you Coteblanche for creating the intro with the Canteen Cottage.

My French is el-rusto too, I'm afraid! I was the only person in French IV in high school (my dad is a French teacher, but he wasn't my French teacher -- however, French I-IV were required, as well as continuing courses in college!). I learned a lot of French, but I forgot most of it!! LOL!!

Me sleep too. I be tired. I'm taking a sleeping pill and I intend to STAY ASLEEP tonight.

Everyone, God bless you. Don't forget to say your prayers. Sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite. Love you/mean it.

Good night FRiends. Sorry I didn't get around to you. It's quite a task to say hi to everyone, especially if you're hunting songs and graphics...hehe. God bless.

I'm guessing that the following conversation must have taken place that year at the Stampede:

Texan (holding his hand out and looking up at the sky in surprise): "Whut in the hell is THAT?"

Albertan (nonchalantly leaning against the wooden rail fence, and looking slowly up toward the grey sky): "I dunno if I can translate it into Texan for ya, but up here we call it 'snow,' eh?"

Texan (disgusted): "I came up here for bull-ridin', not downhill skiin'!"

Albertan (still nonchalant): "Well, since yer always tellin' me how much bigger everythin' is in Texas, I'm guessin' yer gonna fix everything by goin' into the back of yer pickup truck and whippin' out a blow-dryer as big as a steer. Otherwise, I think we're gonna be doin' a little bull-ridin' and a little downhill skiin' -- at the same time."

Bless their hearts. I can't imagine being born with alopecia. How horrible. Now you take your Ambien and have sweet dreams! (I have Ambien, anyway; it's wonderful, so I just assume everyone who needs a sleeping pill at times has Ambien!!)

Love ya kiddo!!

LOL! That's good! The granny turned those rapists into sopranos! Alright! Of course, I am one who believes in law and order, but when your child or grandchild is violated like that, I think we all have a inner voice that screams, "blow their you know what's to kingdom come!" I am sorry that our criminal justice system would probably punish the granny more than the thugs. :(

Wow, that's a neat picture! I recall that when I was a kid my dad had a tractor at our summer farm with lots of similar looking things to drag behind it! My dad loved to play with this farm toys! :)

Good evening to you ClaraSuzanne

I had a rough day I'm going to hit the hay in a little while.

Anyone know what kind of a snake that is about 9 to 11 foot long and about two inches around and is cold black on top with a white bottom? I have run into him 3 times lately. He just growls at me and runs off.
