If he blocks funding in future budgets, this code would not apply.

A president can't block funding for something that is mandated by law to be funded. Only the descretionary budget and future budgetary legislation is controlled by a president.

Now, didn't Dubya say he was against this?

YES HE DID, and I told you all so last year, that HESCR was the camels nose under the tent.

Here it is folks, the "brave new world" we all knew was coming, and I railed on about last summer.

I'm going upstairs for some waffles now, so I have them ready next time President Bush comes on TV.

Which bill was there that he signed other than what he stated he authorized? It looks as if to me its still sitting in the Senate where Republican Senators like Hatch and Specter support it...

The headline is Exactly as written by The Chicago Tribune. It is exactly as it appeared on the front page of their newspaper. Don't accuse me of misleading anyone.

You are right, it was the Trib's misleading headline. You just posted it.

Can you imagine the rage that would be evidenced on this forum if Gore had ended up as President and was enacting the same agenda as Bush?

President Bush will not BREAK the 1993 rules even if you ASK him. President Bush WILL play by the rules. Even the 1993 RULES that he wants to CHANGE. Please quit ATTACKING President Bush. He is ON our side. I KNOW you will STOP now so I am FINISHED. Thank you.

So this is what this long thread is about? That our president must EO out of here the 1993 law?

Ethical issues aside, we should oppose federal funding for research of any kind wether it's for stem cells or bovine flatulence.

You want the president to veto the federal budget until congress passes legislation that overturns the 1993 law. How do you think that would play out? The D's in the senate would never overturn the 93 law.

Sorry I didn't read the entire thread, when they get this long I tend to read only the most recent comments. Having said that let me add:

Great minds think alike.

If elected president, pro-life Texas Gov. George W. Bush would end stem cell research involving human embryos, an aide to the Republican presidential nominee said Friday.

Well, yeah.

Read my lips.

Your selective posting says wonders about your honesty. This will not be forgotten when rating the credibility of your future posts and replies.

If you think for one second we are gullible enough to believe that excuse you've got another thing coming. Your selective posting was a deliberate attempt to get readers to draw a false premise.
