A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

A Few of FR's Finest..... Voices Silent, They Are Not Forgotten
1John - 02-01-02 CHIEF_Negotiator - 10-03-01 BCM - 09-11-01 BKO - 09-11-01 CommiesOut - 05-25-02
FreeRepublic Memorial Wall
These are only five of the FRiends who are no longer with us, but they are the only photos I had and the most recent. BCM and BKO, among the casualties of September 11th; Chief Negotiator, a tragic accident just weeks later; 1John, who is pictured in the very first veteran's group above; and CommiesOut, who passed away just last month.
I remember also BC Johnson, EdLinn, RR, OldAtlanta, heavyd, CaseyJay.....familiar names I used to see often on many threads. There are other names on the Memorial Wall some of you may remember: LoveUSA's father, Michael A. Marhevka; laissezfirearm, and JMIRACLE.
This weekend's thread is dedicated to the memory of these dear friends. I hope you will take a few minutes and visit the Memorial Wall and read some of the tributes that are linked to each name. The Wall is a beautiful tribute, created and maintained by Mr_Magoo, "for all of those whose voices have been silenced."
"Rest in Peace, Dear Friends, we will carry the Torch of Freedom in Your Memory."

I'm glad you're here, but I'm so sorry about the poison oak! : ( Wishing I could make it better. Perhaps a rose and some butterfles?

Hi, Amy, thank you. I love doing it, and it's so nice to see more FReepers becoming involved. I was going to mention in the opening post, and forgot to, that since Monday, I've been getting one or two letters a day from FReepers who want to add their photos to the Veterans' group. I will be adding a new group Monday or Tuesday.

I can't bake a pineapple pie so until Ms. Daisy gets it out of the oven, I will share my speciality with you.

Okay ---- I went back to my mail box this morning!
A taxi passenger tapped the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question.
The driver screamed, lost control of the car, nearly hit a bus went up on the footpath, and stopped just inches from a shop window.
For a second everything went quiet in the cab, then the driver said "Look buddy, don't ever do that again. You scared the hell out of me!"
The passenger apologized and said he didn't realize that a little tap could scare him so much.
The driver replied "Sorry, it's not really your fault. Today is my first day as a cab driver - I've been driving 'hearses' for the last 25 years!!!!!"

Awesome thread as usual, Billie. I just learned now "heavyD" died ... he was a crusty cool guy!! Uggghhh. A couple of times during those "enthusiastic" Brigader-Bush-Keyes free-for-alls, I speculated on what the "D" stood for in his moniker (no flattery was involved in the process, you may have guessed ;^) Good laughs, he gave as good as he got, too. Bummer! Regards fine lady!

I thought Mama Bear and Amy were to bring you home some pie last night from the Frenso Baker's Square Restaurant and Bakery.....What happened? It is very hot here and I did not want to turn the oven on today, but I will make an exception for you....Do you like ice cream or whipped cream with your pineapple pie?
