"I had no more idea of becoming a Catholic than of becoming a cannibal. I imagined that I was merely pointing out that justice should be done even to cannibals . . . [but] it is impossible to be just to the Catholic Church. The moment men cease to pull against it they feel a tug towards it. The moment they cease to shout it down they begin to listen to it with pleasure. The moment they try to be fair to it they begin to be fond of it . . . "--G.K. Chesterton
Welcome home Senator.

Two years later, he was elected to fill the Senate seat that became vacant when Bob Dole became Vice President. Say what?

Welcome Home to the good Senator from Kansas! And proud that Senator Santorum is a Pennsylvanian!

And a good swithceroo it was too. They're both so stiff (no pun intended) I really couldn't tell the difference. Apparently fooled Tipper and Liddy as well.

The Kansas lawmaker, who had been affiliated with the Methodist Church, is married and the father of 5 children. Thanks for some good news. Sounds like he has been Catholic at heart for some time.

I believe the keyword is "Vice" - down, boy!

Catholic World was going by the old rules. Prior to the 12th Amendment in 1804, the person who received the second highest number of electoral votes became VP.

Senator Brownback was received into the Catholic Church...The Kansas lawmaker, who had been affiliated with the Methodist Church...
Given what has become of the religional approach of the United Methodist Church over
the past few decades...Brownback has made a "right-minded" move.
And this is from a guy whose "cup of tea" is mostly mainstream Christian fundamentalist.
I'm sure this will have no effect on the appearance of the Senator's staff on those
segments that air at the end of The Coral Ridge Hour (D. James Kennedy)
that cover current issues impacting Christians.
(One of Brownbacks advisors was on for a segment on stem-cell research a few months ago.)

As I type this, this news story is being covered on The Hugh Hewitt Show on KRLA 870AM in
Los Angeles.
Interestingly, just this day he has initiated his "Good Guys" hour in which he hopes to
have members of different denominations on for a roundtable each Friday.
(Hewitt is a Professor of Constitutional Law at Chapman University, presently Presbyterian,
but formerly Catholic. He is an interesting mind...see www.hughhewitt.com)

When I saw Dole in that commercial, all I could think is that the Viagra must have
less-than-beneficial effects on some cranial blood vessels...
