Atheism is stupid

You're right - I sat next to it in 11th grade trig, copied all its answers on the final - and failed!

"The next time you come across an atheist do two things, one ask him to use his brain a little more. Two, pray for him. Pray not because he doesn’t have a religion, but pray because his has one."

What kind of moronic crap is this? Arrogance doesn't suit you, junior.

The more one knows of science - especially physics (which covers all fields) - the more one should see the hand of God in everything.

Yes, atheism is an indicator of ignorance in people. Self importance also. By the same token, when one religion says that their God is the ONLY true God also shows ignorance. Islam isn't the only organized religion that tries to make such a claim. Why can't humankind understand that belief in a God - whether you call that superior being God, or Allah, or JuJu Bean for that matter - still shows faith of some form? To kill someone because they believe in only their version of God is the ultimate sin, and the ultimate affront to religion. Hello Islam, can you understand that?

The problem with all of these proofs for the existence of God is that they build this nice box and then tell you the only way out of the box is to accept God as the Creator. Now lets try your game, I want you to prove how God did it, not just state that he did as your conclusion and offer it as the answer as if already self evident. All that you have offered is that you find it easier to believe that God Created the Universe than that it spontaneously developed, a position I might agree with, but that is not the same as proving that your alternative is the only possibility.

Suppose that the whole Universe is not the physical Universe that you perceive but merely a reflection of different forms of energy interacting and what you think is reality has no more real substance than your dreams. Now all of the problems that you identified don’t exist.

Since a God Capable of creating the Universe is more complex than the Universe that we perceive, how is it more likely that God and the Universe exits than that the Universe exits by it self?

I suppose there are few, if any, who haven't thought about atheism and what it means.Voltair said, "If you wish to converse with me, define your terms." So I thought about that for a while and came up with what seems like a definition of atheism.

Atheism says, "I've looked everywhere that God might be hiding simultaenously and I have not found Him." Now, it must be simultaenously, because otherwise He may be here when I'm looking there, or there while I'm looking in the other direction.

Somehow this dog would not hunt. How could I, just a man, be everywhere at one time, instantaneously, so as to not have God escape being detected by me by being somewhere else?

Doesn't make a helluva lot of sense, does it? Atheists have to be very fast or have some other agenda. Somehow the latter seems most likely.

There are two kinds of atheists:

(1.) Those who believe there is no God because nobody has been able to convince them otherwise as yet.

(2.) Those who flat swear there is no God and have their minds firmly made up on the subject.

It is the latter version who is militant and trying the hardest to cause the most trouble, while the former merely wants to be left alone. Combined, they are STILL in the vast MINORITY and isn't the United States of America supposed to be about MAJORITY RULE?

The only tenable position is that of the true agnostic, who simply says that there is no way of either proving or disproving the existence of God

Well said, thank you.

The only tenable position is that of the true agnostic, who simply says that there is no way of either proving or disproving the existence of God and therefore has no opinion on the matter.

I came to the same realization in college. I would say, "Amen", but that's not appropriate in this case.

Only in himself- he cited evolutionism as the justification for the eradication of the Jews, the Polish, the Rom (gypsies), etc. He was NOT a Christian.

I am a dedicated "non-theist". That is to say that I do not subscribe to any of the world religions. I've looked into them, I've wanted to join and become "one of the flock", but every time I run up into questions that don't make sense to me and that there are no answers to.

Do me a favor, will you? Get together with the preachers, the rabbis, the ministers, the Buddhists, the Hindi's and the Muslims, and come to some agreement on what it is I'm supposed to worship. In the meantime I'm just doing my best to get through each day. I'm just not smart enough to figure out God, the Universe and Everything, and I don't think that ANY religion out there has figured it out either. I guess that makes me "stupid".

That having been said, I don't understand that "athiest" who sued to have the pledge of allegance tossed out of public schools. What a twit. Who peed in his Wheaties?

I always ask an atheist if he or she believes in truth, goodness, or love, power, wisdom, intelligence, knowledge, sound, nature, law.....They always say "yes."
Our Creator of the Universe is all the above and has many clear aspects, is within creation, and knowable, while remaing unfathomable beyond creation.
"God" is but one of the many scriptural names of the omniscient and omnipresent Creator.
Any reasonable person should be comfortable "under God" by any "name."

All I said was that he was a believer. Are you saying he was an atheist? I've understood otherwise. However, if you have more information about his beliefs, please enlighten me.

The agnostic merely takes it on faith that there is no way to determine if God exists or not, since he admits that he cannot know. Agnosticism is faith-based and mealy-mouthed.

At least a believer in God takes a position and stands by it.

I heard an analogy once that DNA constructed by accident would be like a tornado hitting an aircraft spare parts factory and blowing together a fully functioning 747! I sure atheists have a perfectly logical explanation for this.
