A few of FR's Finest....Every Day 06-27-02

Posted on 06/27/2002 6:36:06 AM PDT by daisyscarlett

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues;  salute
and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new
word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who
are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which
we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.  I
can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands
of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

ONE OF FREE REPUBLIC'S FINEST

RINTENSE

(aka Republican Warrior Princess)

Rintense has been posting a Daily Thread - "A Day in the Life of President Bush" - since shortly after the Inauguration last year. This thread enjoyed almost instantaneous success and has affectionately been dubbed "The Dose".

The Dose begins with a summary of the President's Day, followed by a quote of the day and then photos taken of the President that day. Rintense downloads these photos (mostly from Yahoo and the WH Website) and posts them for all of us to see. She also provides comments along the way and replies to posters. The thread is informative, educational, humorous and poignant. It is posted in the early evening and many of us cannot retire for the night till we have had our Daily Dose of W.

If you have not already done so, do check out the Dose link here. If you like what you see, send Rintense a freep mail and she will put you on her ping list.

Take a bow, Rintense. You have created and maintained a valuable and popular thread and you are ONE OF FREE REPUBLIC'S FINEST.

Thank you all! You are far too kind. This should be for all the regular dosers, not me.

On a recent transatlantic flight, a plane passes through a severe storm. The turbulence is awful, and things go from bad to worse when one wing is struck by lightning. One woman in particular loses it.

Screaming, she stands up in the front of the plane. "I'm too young to die," she wails. Then she yells, "Well, if I'm going to die, I want my last minutes on Earth to be memorable! Is there ANYONE on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?"

For a moment there is silence. Everyone has forgotten their own peril. They all stared, riveted, at the desperate woman in the front of the plane.

Then a man stands up in the rear of the plane. "I can make you feel like a woman," he says. He is gorgeous, Tall, built , with long, flowing black hair and jet black eyes, he starts to walk slowly up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt....

.....one button at a time.

.....He removes his shirt.

.....Muscles ripple across his chest as he reaches her, and extends the arm holding his shirt to the trembling woman,

.....and whispers:

...."Iron this."

Yes, very well rested, which is a surprise since I was up so late last night.

I am going to have to get to bed earlier tonight, since I will have to get up at the crack of dawn in order to get this thread posted with no mistakes. It could take me awhile. LOL!

I have a question about the Pledge ruling...Does that apply to private schools also?

Interesting question and I only have an opinion, not fact in the way of an answer.

At our grandson's school, they recite the Pledge to the U.S. Flag, the Christian Flag, and the Bible.

Now do you suppose that these kindergarten through high school students are smarter and wiser than the 9th Court Justices? Do you believe for even a second that the sanity of the 9th will be accepted by these students? I don't think so. These kids and teachers, I hope, are not going to accept being able to pledge to the Christian Flag and the Bible without also pledging to Old Glory.

What would happen if students throughout the 9th district, or the whole country if it comes to that, question their teachers as to why they can't say the pledge? How is a teacher or administrator going to explain in terms that these youth will accept? A simple "It's the Law" will not satisfy the multitudes, I'm sure.

The Bible tells that "A child shall lead..." Perhaps it's time for a child to lead the nation.

Supposedly the suit was brought because one child "felt bad" for having to say God.

Well, what about the majority who feel bad because they now can't say it?

Boy, It's a good thing we don't have cats. I'm so upset I need to go kick something.

End of rant - for now.

"Good job with the pledge - this could be done daily, in my humble opinion. Thank you."

I will take care of it if no one else does.
