I recited the pledge here in Kansas last year in my senior year of HS. We did not drop "under God" and I don't know any school that does. I am sure those out in California do, however.
And you are wrong. It does not contradict the Constitution.

Would there be an email address for this left wing wacko?

Besides, I don't see what the stink is. Kids have a right in a public school not to be endoctrinated on the subject of religion. You don't get it, do you? It's not enough that they have the CHOICE not to be endoctrinated; they don't want the ones who DO want to pledge/pray to be able to.
It's denying the majority their rights to satisfy one seven year old girl --- WHOSE FATHER HAS DECIDED THAT SHE IS AN ATHEIST (WONDER IF HE FORCED THAT ON HERE) and her damn father. I'm sick of it.

WHAT A F_UCKING JOKE! Call your reps, fax them, hell skywrite it! This is not right.

Your failure to acknowledge a supreme being should not prevent my family from acknowledging a supreme being.
I don't see where anything remotely like that was proposed.
To: youngFreeper
Shouldn't we look back upon the wisdoms of our forfathers and realize the dangers of a state entangling itself with religion.
Yes, you should. You should also try to understand the common sense with which the Founders approached the matter, something lacking in modern day screechings about "separation of church and state."
Go look at what George Washington and John Adams had to say about Christianity and governance.
Go look at the Historical context of the realtionship between church and state in the various states at the time the Constitution was ratified.
There is no sound basis for today's 9th Circuit decision.
To: KC_Conspirator
The ninth circuit court is always way out of line. To the extent that they have the dubious reputation as being one of the most over-turned federal benches.

There is a difference between a state the does not allow religion, and a state that does not entangle itself with religion.

I'm split here CD. I really am. I disagree with the reasoning for the decision, mainly to take the name of God one step further from our government. However, I have always disagreed with the Pledge of Allegiance because of the 'indivisible' and the fact that it was written by a Socialist to further the centralization and belief that the power for the general government was in Washington instead of the state legislatures.
The other issue is that in some instances it has been seen as a replacement for teaching the actual history of this nation, a pledge to a flag instead of the document

This guy says he's trying to protect the Constitution! Incredible. That is what pornographers say too. There is another atheist nut-case here in PA who titles himself a "1st Amendment activist", and has done things like files suit against a developer to prevent him from calling his development "Christian Fields", and suing a minor league baseball team because they gave ticket discounts to customers who brought in a church pamphlet. Real nice guy.

Well this discussion is not about Beijing, but remember China is now a member of the WTO, and it happens to be the reason you are able to buy everything so cheap at your local Wal-Mart. Most Christmas decorations to be purchased later this year are manufactured in China.

Evidently the father doesn't mind FORCING his atheism on his seven year old daughter.

Instead of a call, (I"m supposing his phone line will be busy or his answer service will just fill up), does anybody have an email address. That way, anybody and everybody can make their opinion known.

I recited the Pledge ever single day of elementary school. We also sand 'My Country Tis of Thee'. Just waiting for THAT to be shot down. Is nothing sacred?
To: tpaine
tpaine,
is it just me, or are you being an ass again?
