Your God is your God, not mine. It's OK. You can have your faith. I choose a different path. No condemnation, no criticism, just my point of view. Not in conflict with your’s, just different. But, I will not be forced by you or any religious zealot (such as the Taliban) to pray to a specific God that you ordain as the “Greatest.” Have faith in your faith, if you wish, you don’t need my endorsement. If I’m wrong I’ll burn in Jerry Falwell’s hell. If I’m right, you’ll never know it. You have your choice and I'll make mine. Let it lie. There's no affront to your piety, just no forcing of your's on me. Believe what you wish, I don’t mind. Why should you mind what I believe? Be strong grasshopper; your conviction will then be all the more apparent and convincing.

The pledge however is socialist in origin - see my post about the author - Francis Bellamy.

A socialist may have wrote it, but it's sure way out of step and to the right with today's leftist liberal.

If Bellamy were alive today, would he be called a socialist if he had the same political views?

Believing that "under God" in the pledge should be removed, does NOT make a person what some of you extremist bible-thumpers have been calling them, i.e.

socialists
commies
lefties
and
schlemiels (long for "jews")

You sort of make me want to counter that kind of fascist casting out of others, with these eight words:

Who the h*ll do you think you are?

Parents and citizens should DEMAND that their schools NOT stop saying the pledge "in case it's ruled unconstitutional."

I don't send my kids to public school and this ruling is another reminder why

But I will call and B!TCH UP A STORM

that phrase creates an awkward pause that wasn't there before.

And that creates a problem for what reason?

"Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof." It was congress that passed the bill that added "under God" to the pledge. The problem is not the Pledge of Allegiance, but the fact that in it is the promotion of a religion (more accurately we are one nation under the constitution). Shouldn't we look back upon the wisdoms of our forfathers and realize the dangers of a state entangling itself with religion. Religion does have many good qualities, but as we look back on history [as Jefferson, Madison (main writer of the constitution), Washington, and Franklin did] we see the dangers of what happens when the State entangles with religion. From the various Crusades, to today where the Arab states are controled by a religion. As conservatives we must make sure that government doesn't dabble its wisdoms on the individual. Leave religion to the individual.

This should enhance our chances to Take Back the Senate -- think right now you can chalk up South Dakota as a win for sure -- Thune should be a slam dunk since daschle is holding up judicial nominiations! Should also help Hutchinson in AR. IOTW, any Republican running for Senate here in the Bible Belt of flyover country should win hands down.

We need to use the obstruction of judicial nominees by the DemocRATS and this court case in every Republican Senate campaign as an example of why we need Republicans in charge of the Senate so that President Bush's nominees who can read the Constitution can be approved. To have that Circuit make a ruling based on wording that is not in the Constitution is mind boggling!

What makes you think this will only hurt the democrats in the bible belt areas? With such low turnout across the nation this could kill most democrats across the whole nation.

Ordinarily, I would say "so what" to the Court's contact information.

That was before last week, however. Since the Supreme Court now considers public opinion in reaching its decisions, should the 9th Circuit Court be any different?

If that is true, Fox ought to be ashamed of itself. That is low-class and second rate.

Besides, I don't see what the stink is. Kids have a right in a public school not to be endoctrinated on the subject of religion. The USSC has said so for sometime, and this just takes the Court's ruling one step further. I don't think the USSC even grants cert here.

It also breaks up the flow of the pledge IMO. I think that it sounds better without "under god" -- that phrase creates an awkward pause that wasn't there before.
Exactly, plus it adds a divisive tone that has no place in what is supposed to be a unifying statement. Unless of course we're saying that Buddhists, Hindus, Wiccans, Zoroasterians, agnostics, and atheists aren't "real" Americans.

Or think about this.....a Moslem can say it without prejudice ("Allah", after all, is Arabic for "God") and an Orthodox Jew might have qualms speaking the name of God. (okay...I'm modell stirring here....hehe).

Thanks for the picture. Fox just gave judge goodwin's phone number but I missed the last set of numbers. PLEASE LET'S ALL GIVE JUDGE GOODWIN A LITTLE PHONE CALL REGARDING THE NINTH CIRCUIT'S RIDICULOUS ACTIONS. (They are from another planet and the money is next - all it takes is one atheist to whine about the currency.)

Someone, please post the Judge's phone number and also call your leaders. FV
