According to Joe Hadenuf: Official Free Republic Position Parallels GOP On Immigration. No Big Deal
6/23/02 | Joe Hadenuf

Posted on 06/23/2002 12:52:24 PM PDT by Joe Hadenuf

Last night during a conversation/debate between myself and the leader/owner of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson, a rather stunning revelation was brought forth. I asked Mr. Robinson, which Republicans were vocally backing, and supporting Tancredo in his fight for our sovereignty? After some delay, Jim answered, “I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.”

This is from the man that runs the most well known, and respected, political conservative internet forum in the United States? And Mr. Robinson resides in California?

Below is the exchange

Conservatives, Cut Bush Slack The Chicago Sun-Times | June 22, 2002 | Thomas Roeser

To: Jim Robinson

#939: Oh, so the Republicans are fighting for our sovereignty? Besides Tancredo, which Republicans are these Jim? If you could be specific.

#1034: Which ones are not ?

#1056: You never answered my question Jim.

Since you failed to answer my question, I will go first.

Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty.

Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

At first I as was stunned, angry, and felt let down. Then after some thought I wasn’t too surprised.

Looking back at all the hundreds of immigration threads where many were deleted, disappeared and sent to the cornfield, I guess I am not too surprised. However, given the gravity and danger this country faces regarding this out of control, titanic immigration issue, I am still outraged, disheartened and saddened by Mr. Robinson’s response. Thread after thread Freepers have displayed genuine outrage and honest concern regarding this issue. And the outrage and insanity regarding this issue goes far beyond the Free Republic.

It’s escalated to the point now where many of our major cities in this country, such as Chicago, have now approved the use of identification cards, issued by Mexican consulates that will give illegal aliens access to financial and public services and more, as our so-called leaders stand treasonously silent, as our sovereignty is slowly dismantled.

This massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens has changed the face of many of our once great cities, from California to Illinois, to Georgia, to Tennessee, to Texas etc etc.

They are crowding our already over crowded classrooms, voting in our elections, choking off our social services, driving down the wages, while driving up our taxes, filling our jails, standing room only in many big city emergency rooms, etc, etc, etc. I personally know of six American citizens that have become victims of illegal alien crime, from having family members slaughtered on our highways by drunk driving illegal aliens, to stabbings, robberies and common burglaries.

And just recently, another young Deputy Sheriff was shot through the face and killed in California by an illegal alien, that has again fled back to the safety of Mexico. It has now been learned that this individual has already been deported three times, each time he has returned and committed more crimes in our country, leaving American victims in his wake, and each time he fled back to the safety of Mexico.

There are many forms of terrorism, and this continued invasion of millions upon millions is one form. And it's my opinion that it’s one of the most dangerous, most threatening issues facing America today. Even today as we speak, our federal government continues to allow in almost 8000 Middle Eastern men a month on visas. It is my opinion that this legal and illegal “immigration free for all” must be, stopped, extremely limited, and reformed immediately!

Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.

The majority of all immigrants vote democrat and the Republicans think they can pander to these folks.

I am sorry to weigh in with you so late Joe. I have been extremely busy with Rep. Pete Sessions office today.

I have not had time to read all of the thread but I solidly support you.

I have noticed several post (one I believe from JR) that states that we need to get the Democrats out and get more Republicans in. For the most part I agree, but Republicans are not without fault.

If you remember when 245(i) was in the House, we lost by 1 vote. There were several Republicans that did not vote. I don't have the data in front of me but I believe Dick Armey was one that didn't vote. Dennis Hastert stayed silent on the subject. Ron Paul voted "Aye". (Libertarian?)

The point that I want to make now is that we are a nation of laws. Every elected official is sworn to uphold the laws and the Constitution of the United States. It doesn't matter what party they are affiliated with.

The immigration laws and quotas are already on the books. This administration is doing no better than the past administration when it comes to enforcing them.

What I am saying here is nothing different from what I have said on a thousand other post.

Never, ever will you find me putting a "party" ahead of America. Instead I will hold whoever is in office responsible to do their job. I don't care if they have an "R", a "D", an "I" or an "L" behind their name.

Is Ziglar doing his job? The answer is no. If you recall his comments of about a month ago, he said something to the affect that immigration was so out of control that it was impractical to try to control it. Gosh - I thought that was his job. He is also the same person that is against placing troops on the border for fear of offending someone. Why hasn't Bush fired this idiot? I ask for leadership. I ask that our existing laws be enforced. This political pandering makes me sick!!

If Tom Tancredo doesn't run for president in 2004, I think I will just write Barbra Streisand on my ballot and let the chips fall where they may. [/rant]

The liberals in the Congress are holding the door open for uncontrolled immigration.

In the past, they've had assistance from the "conservative" side of the aisle.
Rather than pick on any current GOP members,
I'll simply cite Jack Kemp and Spencer Abraham as among those who were neglectful in their past responsibilities.

>> After this November, the following will be off this list: Bob Barr (if he loses to Linder in the primary), John Cooksey (unless he drops out of his senate race against Sen. Landrieu), Lindsey Graham (very likely to be the next junior senator from South Carolina), Tony Hall (appointed to the Bush Administration), Robin Hayes (if he can't hold off his general election opponent in a Democrap gerrymandered district), Brian Kerns (lost in primary), Marge Roukema (retiring), Bob Schaffer (retiring), and Bob Stump (retiring). <<

Barr is unlikely to lose the primary. I think Hayes will hold on too. However, Congressman David Phelps (D-IL), a socially conservative Dem from southern Illinois, will probably be off the list next year because his district has been merged with a solid Republican one (this was because the Illinois GOP was stupid enough to let Mayor Daley talk them into keeping all of Chicago's districts in "exchange" for eliminating a rural Dem)

But, who knows, maybe Congressman Smirkus (likely to beat Phelps) will join the new caucus to please his disgruntled consituents in the bottom part of the state.

I think the end result might actually be more members of the Immigration caucus than 2001-2002, given that the GOP will probably have several new conservative congressman in the southwest. I'd expecting some folks from Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and Texas to join...and perhaps a couple from midwestern or southern states (incumbant or upcoming) to join up.

Well, the time to defeat him is in the primaries. I can understand your not wanting to re-elect him, but I think I would vote for him anyway if the alternative means allowing a Democrat to take his seat. I believe we've got to protect and expand the Republican margin. If we lose both the House and the Senate to the Democrats, it's going to get a lot uglier before it gets better. And I'm talking decades into the future. The next 40 years could be pretty bleak.

Well, we stand a better chance of getting our way if we have a larger margin of Republicans to offset the moderates. You know as well as I do that the Democrats are not going to go along with the conservatives on any of these liberal issues. Defeat the Rhinos in the primaries. Vote against the Democrats in the elections. There is no other way.

Would you favor biometric implants and biometric databases to identify voters? Voting fraud is its own crime, separate from illegal immigration. If your county suffers from voting fraud then contact your councilmembers and assemblymen for action.

"Well, the time to defeat him is in the primaries."

And oh how we tried Jim, but these buggers, once elected, remain in office (thanks to the power of incumbency) appx. 97% of the time.

So Greenwood has given his constituents this choice; we can either vote for him, a stone faced liberal liar, or convince some decent person to run against him, knowing full well that h/she has a statistical 3% chance of winning. As a man rooted in reality, I say it's safe to say Greenwood will keep his seat, however undeserving.

But I hear what you're saying and we simply agree to disagree.

I'm convinced you'll see politics in a different light soon, I don't know why I feel this way, but I do...

There's no way to support all the old people, Joe.

I'm an old guy, and I will work until I drop.

Other old people would return to work if not rejected by employers who favor hiring young immigrants.

The last time the GOP "took back" the Congress, term limits was a MAJOR promise associated with the Contract with America. Of course, those who helped scuttle it claim that they fulfilled their promise by bringing it up for a vote. (Big whoop -- bring it up for a vote, then vote against it.) Then they turn around and wonder why the grass roots get disenchanted with the weasels.

There you go again. Trying to put words in my mouth.
You try to paint the people who disagree with you as extremists, don't you?

Illegal immigration and voter fraud go hand in hand
Don't believe me. Just ask ex Congressman Bob Dornan.

#493: Willie, the sabotaging of Term Limits was the effort of many R's and D's, but nobody played a more prominent role than 'conservative' Henry Hyde. To this day, Republicans hold this Clinton-like philander in high esteem. They're enthralled with Henry simply because he upheld his constitutional duty and brought forward articles of impeachment against Clinton.

Some conservative voters have become so easily pleased that our Congressional/Senatorial/Presidenaial hires literally get away with murder...

I wasn't trying to place words in your mouth, just asking a simple question. Sorry that you took it as such, and I'll try to phrase my questions more carefully in the future. I have no issues with anyone who would advocate biometric implants, as the technology will be rolled out eventually regardless, and I happen to see them as a boon to freedom rather than to oppression.

How is "chipping" the population a "boon to freedom"?
Sounds like 1984 to me
