And oh how we tried Jim, but these buggers, once elected, remain in office (thanks to the power of incumbency) appx. 97% of the time.

The last time the GOP "took back" the Congress, term limits was a MAJOR promise associated with the Contract with America. Of course, those who helped scuttle it claim that they fulfilled their promise by bringing it up for a vote. (Big whoop -- bring it up for a vote, then vote against it.) Then they turn around and wonder why the grass roots get disenchanted with the weasels.

#493: Willie, the sabotaging of Term Limits was the effort of many R's and D's, but nobody played a more prominent role than 'conservative' Henry Hyde. To this day, Republicans hold this Clinton-like philander in high esteem. They're enthralled with Henry simply because he upheld his constitutional duty and brought forward articles of impeachment against Clinton.

Some conservative voters have become so easily pleased that our Congressional/Senatorial/Presidenaial hires literally get away with murder...
