CHICAGO (Reuters) - Every year there's a new one: Most livable U.S. city, friendliest city, town with the best manners. Now comes the first annual sweatiest city award.
Top honors go to San Antonio, Texas.
On a typical summer day, San Antonio residents lose more than 1 liter of perspiration per hour during exercise such as walking, the announcement said.
Dallas-Ft. Worth, New Orleans, Houston and West Palm Beach, Florida, fleshed out the top five sweatiest cities.
The list was released on Thursday by Procter & Gamble's Old Spice Red Zone deodorant, apparently in a sweat to produce some first-day-of-summer publicity.
It was based, the announcement said, on the average high temperature and humidity during June, July and August in the 50 cities reviewed. Based on this the company estimated the sweat produced by walking one hour each day.
"Although some view sweat as embarrassing, it is necessary to keep the body cool," said Mark Davis, described as a perspiration expert for Old Spice, which said it is sending the mayor of San Antonio a case of its Red Zone.
The five least sweaty cities were in order: Barrow, Alaska, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego and Los Angeles.

I spent a LONG summer, without A/C, in San Antonio in USAF OTS. Now I always know how to find Texas
Go west 'till I smell it, then south 'till I step in it!
To: Blue Screen of Death
You need to look a little further north, my man.

They obviously have not visited Alexandria, La. during the summer. It has all the heat of San Antonio and twice the humidity.

In new orleans, I really can't drink enough water and gatorade during the summer.

So I search for the article, nothing. I start posting it and in the meanwhile you beat me to it.

LOL! Hmm? Texas gets 4 out of the top SIX (D/FW counts as TWO).
D/FW is #2. I believe it!
To: Cagey
Excuse me to the writer of this article but I used to live outside of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country and I will guarantee anyone that when you step out of a car in San Antonio at 100 degrees it is hot, but nothing compared to Houston and New Orleans. Been there done that -- drove from SA to Houston and when we got out of the car we could not believe the humidity there compared to San Antonio -- was much higher and seemed much hotter.
To: MeeknMing
I grew up in the Miami Valley in Ohio and nothing is hotter than when it gets near 100 degrees and the humidity level is near 100%. Humidity in the north when it is hot is the worst I have ever witnessed. May not happen as many days but when it does, it is the hottest I have ever been!

I know, I can't believe Lafayette didn't make the top 5 list.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity that gets you. ;)
You know it is hot when your extra-strength anti-perperant, left in your car, melts.
You have to be tough to be a Texan. :)

You're correct. San Antonio's humidity doesn't compare to Houston's. I've done the Riverwalk in summer and lived in Houston 30 years.
San Antone has the title-- but Texans know better!

I LOVE the humidity! It's the reason my 33-year-old face is utterly smooth and unlined, as is my 60-year-old mother's - and we're likely to stay that way.
Went to California a few years back for a wedding, and I used more moisturizer and lotion in that weekend than I've used in my entire life in Houston. And I am not exaggerating.

Even a dip in Lake Pontchartrain isn't refreshing, with water temps at 90+ degrees on the worst days.
