Anything is better than renting!!!

But wait, just wait - til it's time to try and sell the house.

You name it - it goes bad - and it better be taken care of. Our central air system is shot - while not as expensive as the roof it is still a major expense - and we don't have the time to save up for it. Summer gets sticky in Delaware.

With the roof, we didn't have time to save up either - the city informed us exactly how long we had to replace it. yes, you got that right - the city inspector did not like the way it looked and gave me 30 days to replace it. i was able to stretch that to six months - but we still had to take a loan to do it. The day before the contractor was to start I was given 24 hours notice that the up to $100 per DAY fines would start if it wasn't done.

That's how bad it is here - the city can fine a private homeowner if they don't like the condition of the roof. My husband had repaired the roof and we knew we needed a new one and had gotten the appropriate esitmates - we were just trying to save the money.

I'm on a rant here and so I will finish with this - the city was all over me - weekly drive-by checks, phone calls, and letters. A month ago the townhouse unit 3 doors down from me (I'm the end unit) had a fire and the unit was declared inhabitable - there has been NOT one thing done to make it right and the city is not all over them.

Yes - I want out of here.

End of my rant.

Let us return to our fun FREEPATHONNING!!!!

I just want to go over my 'loose change donation' thingy. (I wish I had a catchy phrase for it!)

I'm on the monthly and $/day list, but I also do weekly change. For example:

A little while ago,I emptied all the change from my little change purse. (If I were a guy, it would have been my pocket) I put back about $2 in quarters, nickles, etc. What was left totaled $1.45, and I put it in a little plastic bag and put it out of sight. It wasn't much, but if I put away $1.45 every week for 3 months, I'd have $17.40!

Of course, each week, the amount counted out is different, but it all adds up ------- and to those who can part with small amounts, and who want to help out FR.com, it is a painless way to do it.

I don't know how many Freepers are tuning in now that the end is in sight, but at the next Freepathon I'd like to figure out how to have a loose change contest.

It might be a nightmare for Badjoe, tho!!!! LOL!

Thanks! $25.00 from the sleeping giant .. Florida!!! Florida .. land of Reno and rented mobs, GoreBores and guayabaras, Elian and INS irregularities, Jeb (who WILL win) and judicial nightmares, Cuban sandwiches and spies and cooling palm trees, balmy beaches and butterfly ballots, mangos and multicultural nightmares (the first MALE prom queen is from .. Florida), northeastern transplanted, whining liberals and nifty parks, and a growing, throbbing mass of GREAT CONSERVATIVES!!

Take back your doggies, ay, your kitties, ay, your horsies, ay-yi-yi!
Bring back the OSTRICH, ay, he's just so kitch, he'll make us rich, ay-ay
Every time his mug is poppin', like a jumping jack I'm hoppin' without stoppin', ay-yi-yi!
Mister Ostrich, please come back today!

Take the charts aw-ay, the graphs aw-ay, the posies, ay-yi-yi
Just bring the ostrich back, now don't be slack, he's such a whack, ole, ay-ay!
Now I've got this strange click-clack in the back of my sacroiliac, ay-yi-yi!
And I'll have this wriggle and a diddle and a jiggle like a fiddle in my middle without slack
Until you bring my piddle, widdle, liddle Mister Ostrich back!

Caramba, ay-yi-yi!

Leni

God Bless your Dad.

As my husband read this over my shoulder he reminded me his dad was there too. He was on the Valley Forge - stayed off shore, until the Marines took care of business.

According to my husband, dad took control of a japanese washing machine after they landed, and made fortune letting folks do their laundry (enlisted 50 cents, officer $1)

My husband salutes your father - he lost his dad in 1984 - and I never had the pleasure of meeting the man.

My poor poppies got rained out today. There is no drought here. As a matter of fact, we've had so much rain in the last two months the neighborhood is taking bets on when one of the neighbors' leaners (leaning tree) is going to go wump.
