But isn't better to have a dirty atomic bomb explode in the USA than to stoop to ethnic profiling? After all, ethnic profiling is the greatest evil on the planet.

That seemed to be what Mayor Bloomberg of NYC was saying last week. I wonder if he will now have second thoughts.

Publicly, Bloomy says all kinds of silly things, but I doubt if he believes the half of them. After all, this is a guy who got into hot water during the campaign, when it came out that his employees had put together a book of his un-pc wisecracks as a present to him.

Now why in the hell couldn't the US Attorney prove this guy was a National Security risk in Federal Court?

Because he would have to reveal his information, and revealing the information would reveal the SOURCES.

Moussaoui's judge is trying to force the government to reveal where it is getting its information on him, something the government clearly does not want to do, nor should it.

"In the absence of a formal declaration of war, what are we going to do with this sucker?"

Conspiracy to kill Americans, conspiracy to commit a terrorist act, conspiracy to obtain and use a weapon of mass distruction, a few charges I know I've forgotten....probably conspiring with the enemy (treason) and possibly conspiring with a foreign power to kill Americans (treason).

Absent a formal declaration of war, he's most likely going to be tried in exactly the same way he would be if there were a formal declaration of war.

You won't hear Congress say anything about it...this lack of a formal declaration of war aided the president in that it expedited matters in Afghanistan, and aided Congress in that many of them hoped Afghanistan would turn out to "be another Viet Nam" , so Congress needed it's collective political butt covered in order to be free to gloat....which of course hasn't happened, LOL.

Did you happen to hear that one idiot who called into FOX news? He was saying he is part of thousands of Islamic extremist who WILL destroy us (my words.. but that was the giest of the conversation). I say America had BETTER wake up fast.. quit playing nicey nice with terrorists *(which is WHAT has gotten us where we are today) and no matter how UGLY it is.. no matter how cruel it may seem.. we need to clean house.

I heard it and was feeling as speechless as Linda Vester and David Asman, the Fox commentators.

This caller named Saeed or Said, who Linda thought was going to be of ME descent when she went to the call, was sitting there with her mouth open, bug-eyed, as this American-born moslem said to her that there is no freedom, there is no liberty in this country, and why should he turn anyone in, as she was urging him to do. He said that there are many, many like him in this country, and when he was inducted into Islam there were at least 50 others with him, just in that one instance.

Really sickening. How are we going to stop people like that guy? This -ism is too popular in the black culture (as this caller seemed to be) and how do we deal with the part of that population who thinks this country is not worth saving?

This is one of the major reasons, it so important to have a viable Free Republic to keep track of clymers like the Opecker Poster Boy Lawyer, Ramsey Clark and those whom crawl around in his anti America/American slime.

BTTT for that comment!

I support turning this cretin over to DOD but I know the libs are gonna scream race/ethnicity discrimination since Johnny Jihad was given all the comforts of a criminal trial. Any thoughts?

"The more information I get on this lastest arrest the more nervous I am getting. The US Attorney NY and the US Government could not prove in Federal Court its case to further detainment this guy, so it was decided to give it to the Military"

That isn't what happened with this guy at all...given new information, his status appears to have changed from being a prisoner held on state charges to a prisoner held on international conspiracy to commit terrorist acts against Americans charges....which is a biiig change. His situation is worse, not better.

How about the spying on of US citizens? What happens when we have a Clinton in the WH with this highly centralized spy-on-US-citizens intelligence agency is in full gear?

This new organization that Ridge is putting together doesnt spy on anyone. It analyzes data and responds to threats and attacks. All spying is still done by the CIA and NSA. The FBI can investigate within the US just as it can now. All this organization does is make someone responsible for connecting the dots and for taking action.

Your comparing apples to watermellons. Now I completely understand protecting sources and methods, more than you realize. However, Moussaoui's has been charged and is being tried by a US COURT! By the laws of the United States as provided for by the Constitution of the United States. I can understand why the US Attorney is doing what he he doing. In the case of Abdullah Al Mujahir a US Citizen who is being detained without being charged and has now been turned over to DOD with no Military Tribunal established is a hold different story. The US Attorney in the Moussaoui case has formal charges.

So what is the real story with Abdullah Al Mujahir?

Nice work.....let me know when the Aryan Islamic Brigade shows up at an airport near you....LOL.....nah worse yet, they'll send their Grannies in Valkyrie outfits carrying the Koran under one arm and boxcutters in their Dansko clogs.

It's always a highly imaginative "what if" with the PC crowd isn't it?

Is this the guy that said that rap music is calling for the destruction of America? With any luck, this war may rid us of rap music as well as political correctness.

Ramsey Clark bump!

Thank you for reminding us yet again of the native evil forces in America.

Mao is dead.

Stalin is dead.

Their spiritual inheritors live on in America. These creatures are more dangerous than enemy aliens.

So what! He was arrested here in the United States, under US LAW not a world court and international law. Is he a US Citizen or not? What makes him different than Moussaoui?

Why is Moussaoui getting status and his guy not? No one has told me about any additional formal charges. Moussaoui crime was worse, he was part of the conspriacy to attack. The fact remians that there is even NO Military tribunal established.

So what gives here?

Now that would be an extremely welcome addition to the war on terror! (And yes it was the same guy.)
