Re the check books, We have friends born in the depression and 30 years after like your dad.
My son's wife was appalled at him doing the check books as per his Dad/and now Mom's rounding. Now after 4+ years, she started doing the check book, and she is doing the same thing.

Listen folks, instead of sending money to your local NPR or PBS station, where they run things that you don't like/approve of with your money, pledge here! Like NPR/PBS, FR is also a public service, but instead of having to worry about your money going to something that goes against your grain/morals, you will know that 100% of your pledge will be put to good use!

Yes, I am a monthly contributor since January of 2002 if my memmory serves me right.
My choice for the handle is that I am 1/2 German, I like the FIRST KANZLER of Germany[(actually he single handledly restored the Prussian Empire to its former glory(at the same time he invented the welfare state, unfortunately)]
I love Rottweiler to death(I've had two of them), just for your information they are used as "grenzenschutz"(borderpatrol) dogs. The schaefferhunds"(german shepperds) are used for police service only.
Oh, by the way I think the battleship "BISMARCK" was one hell of a war toy IMHO. Because of the respect to the two (the Chancellor and the battleship), I chose to spell my handle sans "c".

So, you are advocating a lesser punishment than Christ has in mind for them.OK, I can do better, then. I heard about a bunch in Viet Nam referred to in quiet tones as "The Brigade" who did some pretty unspeakable things to VC and ARVN when they wanted information from them.
I suppose I could duplicate some of their tricks.

Well, thanks for responding, but I'll be dogged if I can connect your response to my #14:
OK, I'm trying this for the third time ( telco disconnects, system lockups, etc.! )-- here's my biggest list.
If you want off, you must tell me.
If you can't afford to give- and we have all been there- just flag others you know, and ask them to flag a few more members. Keep these posts moving until we're done.
Folks, we really are making a difference- I hear things every day on the radio that could only have come off the web, and maybe even Free Republic itself. Do as much as you can.
