You are like me and others. You contribute monthly and will do more so when able to.

I believe what grates JL and I the most re the Freep Loaders is that these are supposedly conservatives, who want a "free lunch" to present their conservative feelings and to get the news.

Love of free lunches and conservatism are not really compatible.

JL tries to show how just the elimination of 1 trip a month to a person's favorite fast food pit stop would allow them to donate at a minimum $5/month to Free Republic. If 5000 Freepers did that, the monthly donations would be $25,000/month from that 5,000.

My favorite example is stopping the subscription of your local left wing fishwrap. Then, sending half of your monthly savings to Free Republic. If another 5,000 Freepers did that and their average new monthly contribution was again $5 per month. That would be another $25,000/month in new monthly donations.

So using JL's suggestion re cancelling a fast food visit and sending $5/month to FR, and my suggestion to cancel the subscription to your left wing fishwrap and sending $5 or more of the savings would bring in incredible new monies to Free Republic.

Those new monies would enable Jim and John Robinson to continue to improve the site and make it more effective in fighting the scrouge of liberalism, socialism, fascism, and Islamism. Those isms that threaten our survival become weaker with each regular donor to Free Republic.

One can only imagine what the effect of 100,000 Freepers contributing $5/month to Free Republic could be in our battle against these isms who work 24/7 to destroy our country and our freedoms.

Thank you Ed, for finding this and reposting it.

I love my new computer, but I have to try and fire up the old one and try to salvage some of these oldies but goodies.

I have settled into the routine of about 6 hours of sleep each night is all that I need nor want. Went to bed early last night, and at 4 am I was up with the birds. In fact I beat most of them.

So when I do this, I sneak out of bed and head for the kitchen hit the start button on the coffee, come to my office fire up the computer, check emails, and other sites and then log on to FR. I get my monthly donation back in a few days each month.

Just another added value of FR for those of us bitten by by the early bird syndrome or those bitten by the insomnia bug.

I'm afraid to ask what "Sheepshead" is?

However, that is one of the advantages of being my age. I can blame whatever happens or results from my comments or questions on my old age.
