Well - I don't know - I have 3 sons - and if you were to look at some of the pictures that we have taken over the last 19 years - there were many forced smiles of them, too. They just didn't want their picture taken of them at that particular time.

Other pictures and videos that I have seen of Elizabeth seemed as if she had a genuine smile on her face.

Whenever someone posts a reply on a thread, it bumps that thread back up to the top of the Latest Posts page, enabling more people to see it. Often on a thread you will see something like BTTT or bump, which are ways of accomplishing that. Other times people will converse with each other ..... and each reply sends the thread back to the top where someone else might see it who hadn't previously.

It looks like the LATEST POSTS page is in order of original post for the thread, not in order of latest post to the thread. Is there a setting to change this for your browser? I've wondered about this a long time.

I'm so sick about this HM. I've been upset all week. Every time I see her beautiful face, I could just sob. I'm livid. I don't know what it's going to take to put an end to this. If they ever find the man who did this, how much do you want to bet he had a record? I'm beside myself with disgust.

Soooooooo...I'm going to empower my children. I want them to learn how to effectively fight for their life if needed. They start Karate on Monday.

When you figure they're ready for the post graduate work, feel free to let me know.

There's a lot more to it than *just* Karate, but several of the Karate forms offer an excellent foundation, and if your kids have the interest, dedication and drive to stick with it, hey, that's what works.

**It was started as an experiment and IIRC, they experimented with illegal drugs to induce visions. Not credible. **

Not surprised.

**Did the crackpots at Psitech know that the post about them would be removed??? **

I'm sure they have a viewing somewhere about that. Yes, let's see...about here I think:

**Tae Kwon Do is a good option.**

Thanks for the suggestion. We *will* be checking that out this coming week. It's not something that any of us should put off.

My husband is in law enforcement. He has always emphasized to me and our girls that if a perp has a weapon and threatens you with it, he WILL USE it. Best to fight, scream, die on the spot rather than be taken... Our girls know they must fight when threatened. They've taken kick boxing classes (and still do when they find the time).

I'm praying with all my heart that in Elizabeth's case, somehow, some way God has intervened in her behalf. I've been very upset since I've heard of her disappearance. Printing off flyers now to post in my community.

Welcome to Free Republic.

Brigette began this thread as a way to update freepers about Elizabeth. I don't consider discussing, praying, and hoping as empty chatter.

If you're not supportive of current updates on Elizabeth then click on by, hon.

It's not so much the eyes, but the smile looks forced...anyone else sense this?

Don't put too much stock in a photo. When looking at photos of myself and family I have often been struck how far off the photo is from what was actually happening. That the photograph either makes the person look sad when I know the person (myself or family member) was having a great time because I was there OR it makes them look happy when in fact they were feeling down. Also I have been told quite often, since I was a little girl, that I look sad when I am not. I figured out this was because my mouth naturally curves down when I am not talking or laughing. My son inherited the same mouth and people are always asking him what he's sad about.

**When you can show me that such chit-chat brings a missing child home, this newbie will consider changing their opinion. **

Your compassion for this girl astounds me. Not.

I noted on a thread yesterday that the girl's eyes look "flat" in all of the pictures I have seen....her mouth may be turned into a smile, but her eyes are not smiling. None of the pictures or videos show the sparkle or exhuberance of youth that I would expect from such a pretty young girl. Of course, not knowing her personality, it's difficult to judge.

One other note (which may belong in the inane observation category)......it was reported that the shoes she took with her had her favorite color on them......blue. I don't know why we were told her favorite color, but I do notice that none of the many pictures/videos show her wearing a trace of blue.

Perhaps it's your approach in slamming freepers who are concerned for this girl.

That's what I wanted to start with, just the "foundation". I've been wanting them to learn something like this for ages, and the news from this week is what finally prompted my procrastinating fingers to dial the number. It's a start.

I've gone over this with my kids a million times since they were toddlers. "Don't talk to anyone". "If someone grabs you, what ever you do, don't get in that car....scream, bite, scratch, kick, hit, scratch their eyes out, pull their hair, kick their reproductive organs, hit them in the nose with the palm of your hand, scream "fire", etc.....but don't get in the car". Now I want them to learn how to literally defend themselves, if needed. Any suggestions?
