"'I read the report put out by the bureaucracy,' Bush said dismissivly... "
More to come, I'm sure
I think these threads are interesting.
It pits the people who put their blind faith in men against each other.
The ditto-heads V/S the dubyaites.
Of course, you do get the occasional poster that believes first and foremost in the Conservative philosophy. But by and large it's like drunken NASCAR fans fighting in the stands over who's cheering the better driver.

Sheesh and you always rail against the mushy middle. Huh it looks like you have joined the mushies. :^)
Now that's a presumption of Titanic proportions. "Support" and "faith" are mutually exclusive.
I can't speak for others, but as for me, my faith is in the Resurrected Son of God, not man.
But I'm sure (my own presumption) that you get the "all warm and fuzzy and gooey" feeling since you are so much better than that. < /sarcasm>
In what respect?
I think you are hyperventilating at a straw man. I certainly did not say that the EPA report denied all human involvement in the production of greenhouse gases. If they had said such a thing, it would be rightly viewed as preposterous. What they said was, we don't know how much of the observed temperature change is due to human activity, and how much to natural variability. That seems to me to be a fairly sensible position to take.
They admiited to that? Heaven forfend! I must have missed that one. You sure got me there. That proves it. Just what it proves is more elusive. It sounds on the face of it like one of those undeniable truths of nature. Are conservatives supposed to pretend that there are no gases in the atmosphere? That gases cannot produce greenhouse effects? I mean, come on, the political struggle here is over Kyoto-like mandatory solar-powered bicycles. We do not need to deny the existence of gases or greenhouse effects to defend a position that we will not implement Kyoto-like rules. This isn't a religious struggle involving articles of faith; it's politics. Your note seems to be a kind of jihad against any statement that sounds like humans might have any involvement at all. We don't need that to win, so why take such a preposterous position? So what if there is human involvement? It doesn't matter. Everything we do could be swamped tomorrow by some natural force going the other way. If the Earth is gonna have an ice age, it's going to have one, no matter how much we drive around in our SUV's. When it comes to global climate, we're nits. |
People have a right to defend the President against innuendo, slander and rumor. We all know Bush isn't king and in America, open and honest criticism is encouraged. But the fact is, the President hasn't engaged in any unlawful activities. This is simply the give and take of politics. At times, some people go a little to far and step over the line. There's no place for personal insults of this President.
>>>We deserve to get the man we voted for....so, for those counting, he still has enough flip-flops to make an entire album.
President Bush may be disappointing you, but he has the overwhelming support of Republicans, conservatives and Americans in general. I disagree with Bush on several issues, but there have been no flip-flops. We got the man we voted for. No doubt about that.
In his talking points, O'Reilly said that Bush now he needs to formulate an ACTION PLAN to head off the evil global warming.
I think that Bill was trying to drive a wedge between himself and Rush in the quest for ratings. I'm about through with both of them.
I just made an observation and I didn't personalize it.
Little touchy, aren't we?
(And yes, I do think some of this borders on cultish behavior. Remember the CFR debate?)
Actually Jorge, to be accurate, this disappointment in President Bush has been going on long before yesterday. And much of it is justified. Lets keep it accurate Jorge.
If you're saying that these sort of knee-jerk reactions are nothing new on FR, then I agree. That is accurate.
But I was talking specifically about yesterday's reaction's to the Global Warmimg Report, and the predictable tantrums thrown all over these boards.
Some people are far too quick to judge and find fault, without knowing the whole story.
And I didn't say that you said you were.
I just made an observation and I didn't personalize it.
That's a logical stretch.
Little touchy, aren't we?
No, nothing to be touchy about. You opined, and I counter-opined.
(And yes, I do think some of this borders on cultish behavior. Remember the CFR debate?)
Not really.
With your reply #741, IMHO.

Sounds kinda of mushy to me.
I downloaded the whole report, word searched it then scanned through it (quickly, because it's as exciting as watching a cat nap) and I didn't find the provocative NYT "quotes" that Rush, via Drudge reported in context.
It seems like allot of hoopla between the bush and rush factions as opposed to a debate based on the report itself.
(in my opinion)
The report is: HERE (zipped up and in PDF format if anyone else wants to have a go at it.
And I'll be the first to agree with you on this point. The actual report was lost while other things outside of the scope were bandied about.
Personally, I think Rush and Drudge over hyped it.
I said it on the other thread.. and the report is avaliable for anyone to read for themselves. (warning, do so in a safe place.. close to the ground and not around sharp objects of any kind by any means)
What's there to be opinionated about? It's allot of bunk over nothing.
