"'I read the report put out by the bureaucracy,' Bush said dismissivly... "
More to come, I'm sure
That's part of it. The other part is, "Amazing how many freepers were quick to accept media accounts/interpretations of Bush's announcement."
You got that right Howlin!
Rush made comments yesterday, like, what's left for conservatives, taxes and abortion and then calling President Bush, Bush-Gore. With comments like that, Rush loses all credibility.
And today Rush is back tracking, BIGTIME!
LOL! Thats funny, but true. BTW, please tell me you still don't live at home with your mother?
Uh, not exactly. This was one of Yahoo's main news stories all day yesterday, as posted by yours truly. You think nobody saw that?
For example: during the census, we got the long form, which we did NOT want to fill out. I decided that I would answer the questions that were on the short form, so I called my mother and asked her what they were. After a long pause, she said, "I only put down how many people lived here!" So, see, I get it honestly. For an 81 year old, she's pretty "with it."
He gets driven wherever he needs to go. Down here, in God's country, we enjoy driving and enjoy the wide open spaces.
We have friends. We need the extra room of an SUV.
If I lived up there, in the zoo, I would be jealous of the rest of us, too.
Maybe someone at the Whitehouse called Rush, not the other way around...maybe to tell him he was being an idiot!
Poor Rush. Maybe he needs to spend more time on the golf course.
Oh, except I did read that Brokaw jumped all over Rush's remarks yesterday. Trying to show the great divide, I suppose.
Yes, he waited a whole 24 hours to respond to a NYT article that he didn't know was coming out to distort a report that had no policy recommendations.
Yeah, he was cowering.
That's because O'Reilly will never make the same mistake Rush did. O'Reilly always does his research first...
Yepper ! The sqeekie wheel gets the grease.
Doesn't matter .. the damage he did to himself has already been done
Yesterday Rush went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the line
For the most part, people who feel 'betrayed' misunderstood what he stood for in the first place.<<
Oh, you mean like Campaign Finance Reform? Remember how he called it unconstitutional on the campaign trail, and then made jokes to the press about how fast he would sign it?
But of course, because I expected him to keep his word, that makes me a Bush-basher.
FYI, I NEVER GOT a census form. I was a grad student living on campus, BTW.
O'Reilly agrees with the report. The President disagrees with the report. So O'Reilly disagrees with the President, no?
LOL .. a glass of ice tea sounds nice .. I'm thinking I'll get me one of those
Right. Whether or not Rush/Hannity jumped the gun or not with their criticism, people have lost sight of the fact that it is the job of the press to report on and/or editorialize questionable acts or policies of the government.
Lord knows the liberal media abdicated that role for eight years, but even the NY Post criticized yesterday's report.
The healthy lesson to be learned from all of this is that the conservative media and punditry are intellectually honest and diligent in their pursuit of the truth.
