The report was released. Links were posted. I read a lot of it. It was a typical bureaucratic, phase three, progress report to the UN....no substantial policy changes...little in position changes (the greenies probably felt they got something, but they didn't)

Since I had read it, I felt the 1200 post thread was a waste of time and energy...it was not a "great conservative sellout"...it was instead, a tempest in a teacup.

There is some tendency for us to believe that when the Administration changes, everyone in all the agencies change, too. It's not true, of course, and we subconciously know that, but it's still a trap.

Most of the people in the EPA are career employees, who are there because they love government involvement in the environment.

The bias and bureaucracy of that agency is always going to be leftist.

At most, this was a failure at the top to stop the issuance of a report that would be so misconstrued by the media. But we shouldn't be surprised at all that the agency attempts to issue leftist positions.

Did either of you hear Rush rip the young girl who called in yesterday telling him and all the other bashers to stop it, how tired she was, etc. He asked her which issues she was interested in that the President supported. She did not care, she just cared that bill clinton was not President any longer. After the call Rush said "well folks, Bush has conquered the Soccor Moms". I turned him off and will not listen any longer. Rush has the right to disagree, we all do but he is bashing President Bush just like he bashed Clinton and I don't have to listen to it. I proves one thing to me, I don't need him to tell me how to think.

I have been listening to Rush today to see what he would say. Did I hear him say that he had talked with President Bush and that was why the President spoke up about all the nonesense that was going on yesterday? I was only half listening. I really got tired of reading all the negative comments yesterday and started to post something about it but decided to wait and see just exactly what was going on. This is a sick family. Our younger daughter fell very early Sunday morning and broke her foot. She has an appt. with a foot specialist later this week and I have an appt. with my lung dr. Friday afternoon about my chest pain. He is really a good dr who knows what he is doing. Rintene, if you read this, I hope you are feeling better today. MamaB

Actually the report was a creation of the continued Democrat beauracracy, not just holdovers but the career civil-service leftists. Bush's fault was not stopping it or changing it sufficiently. Clearly the administration dropped the ball, this will be remembered as one of the uglier moments of the 8 Bush years, the administration's "ketchup is a vegetable" incident.

To me what is important is that the administration recognize and address the holes in control and the mixed messaging. The incident WILL be used against us this year. And I'm not too down on Rush. He was only doing his job, addressing myths and errors. And letting this report out without sufficient editing WAS an error. IMHO Rush did overreact, which didn't help any. But bottom line a problem is being corrected, and hopefully lessons learned.

Of course now the pressure is back on the Chicken Littles to find another excuse to flee the party.

Done in your name, buddy. Better learn to take responsibility for the actions of your administration, especially when you requested the report be made.

You could've stopped the report. You could've had someone check it out for you since you certainly have better things to do than read such a report.

Again, Bush is trying to have his cake and eat it too. On the one hand, his administration produced and submitted this report to the socialist UN. On the other, he's acting as if this was merely some autonomic bureaucratic action. He's the captain of his ship, the head of his administration.

He has two choices, IMO: either support the report the EPA made under his orders, or repudate the report and its findings in no uncertain terms. Tell people you hadn't reviewed it and think it is a load of bunk. Trying to placate both sides of this issue *will not work*, and will only serve to piss everyone off (which is happening already). He isn't coming across as moderate or centrist, but wishy-washy and not in control of his own administration.

Step up to the plate and state your position for all to hear and know.
