Nobody will take your car over this issue?? That's what they're doing right now! CAFE standards, SUV demonization, California-mandated electric car production, are just the beginning. The more this "theory" (actually, religion) takes hold in people's minds, they will take your car away!

I love a good debate and a good philosophical or strategic discussion, but the flaming is getting way out of hand, IMO.

The flaming is totally out of control ON BOTH SIDES, IMHO.

And some of us here need to take a good look in the mirror and ask if we aren't beginning to look like the right's version of Paul Begala or James Carville. I mean, damn, can this Prez do NO wrong in your eyes? Is there no bottom to your loyalty to a mere man?

There are two bottom lines: one is that I trust this president; the second is that unlike the Dems, too many Republicans refuse to stand behind their president. The Dems know how to circle their wagons. You "red meaters" mostly seem intent on pulling ours apart.

Here is the reason why good, conservative Americans should be bashing W now, right now, and really hard.

Because in a year it will not make any difference.

If, like his dad, he continues this Neville Chamberlain path of appeasing the liberals, then, they will cream him in 2004, and we will get another Clinton. For eight years.

Think about that for a minute.

The dark despair that came over the whole country when Clinton was elected, was something too odious for me to remember.

Not to mention the last eight years before W.

I bash W now because I DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN EVER AGAIN!

I bash Bush NOW, because I want him to CHANGE AND BE MORE CONSERVATIVE. NOW!

Then, when the mudslinging starts in a year or so as a warm up to the election of 2004, IT IS TOO LATE TO BASH HIM AND IT IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE.

That's when every good American should shut up.

Remember, the American political memory is about one week.

Thanks for pointing out the link to the report -- of course why would some of these folks let some facts get in the way with their defense of Rush and ripping of Pres Bush? That doesn't fit their agenda!

Rush has been history for me for sometime. I got fed up with the golf and who he always knew sometime ago not to mention his stories of going around in his convertible with the top down taking cell phone calls he couldn't understand! Day after day of that got annoying. Now that he is semi-ripping Pres Bush day after day according to a lot of folks, I won't go back to listening at all, and I am joined by a almost everyone I know. Maybe he doesn't think we make a difference, but I will guarantee everyone that eventually a lot of us are going to make a difference if this keeps up!

If global warning is real and a danger to human existance, the only real hope is a massive conversion to nuclear energy.

I wonder if W is think along these lines. Telling the Chicken Little's to put up or shut up.

One thing the Democrats know this year: they don't have to worry about fighting us. We're doing a great job of destroying ourselves.

Uh-huh. Yeah, I can't wait to see the puff pieces in the NYT and LAT bringing the news to the masses about Bush being "pro-environment". When's the 3 minute segment on "NBC Nightly News" airing that hypes the new and improved "Mr. Environment", George W. Bush? When can I expect to see Peter Jennings smiling and piling on the positive adjectives in describing this report and the Admin. reaction?

Most people don't watch the evening news. They'll hear second hand how Bush seems more friendly to the environment. They'll eat it up. Face it, this is a loss

Baloney. Like when Nixon went to China.

"...the study repeatedly states that the connection is not verifiable and that much of the rise in temperature may be completely natural."

I don't see the jist of "...the study repeatedly states that the connection is not verifiable and that much of the rise in temperature may be completely natural..." being reported much, if indeed it is the pull line from the Bush Report. What I've seen is that the report accepts American-caused Global Warming as a reality when I've seen much evidence to the contrary...once you cede that point, the Left is halfway towards a big legislative win!!

"Rush is pushing the 'what is the difference between Gore and Clinton?' What about tax cuts, ABM treaty, pulling out of Kyoto, reducing gov. intrusion of ergonomic issues, increasing the military budget, pushing for further welfare reform, limited stem cell research, etc....."

Have you noticed how many of these issues--except for the military budget--we implemented pre-9/11? I wonder if this move to the Left on Global Warming is a compromise to placate the Europeans in exchange for help on the War on Terrorism...I fear Dubyuh earned so many brownie points for his admirable response to that horrific event that he thinks we on the Right will accept anything else he does and still enthusiastically support his Left-appeasing Agenda. The Right's too principled to fall for that, IMHO.

This is another good point that Rush overlooks in his constant "Bush won't spend his political capital" tirades: Bush HAS convinced the soccer moms of his high character; many of them will vote Republican FOR THE FIRST TIME in coming elections.

Once they have broken that barrier, they are indeed on their way to freedom from the Rats for good.

This is a fundamentla, seismic sift int he electorate. It holds the seeds of true, institutional reform in the future (the immediate future and remember these are the women imparting political values to the next generation).

Seems to me sewing up the soccer mom vote, and laying the foundation for future change in electorate, is a pretty good use of political capital.

#131: "Most of the people in the US believe global warming is real. Bush's stance isn't a radical one."

Most people in the US voted for OWLGore. Your point?

Good one Jethro.

What the "Bush Can Do No Wrong" crowd here should think long and hard about is that if the more conservative voters/members of the GOP remained silent as GW co-opted the democrat agenda on issue after issue would not such lack of outrage within the republican ranks encourage the Bush Administration to move ever further to the left given that it is the path of least resistance? Seems to me, politics being what it is, this would happen.

For Rush to call W. "Al Gore" makes me sick. Rush is as irresponsible as Drudge is and deserves the same treatment: the off button.

I'm a good, conservative American and I am not going to waste my time looking for ANYTHING that is wrong with everything Bush says or does so can find fault with him.

If that's how you want to spend your life, go ahead. The very fact that you're continuing to carry forth Drudge's story, after it has been REPEATEDLY DEBUNKED on this very site, shows where YOU are coming from.

And rightly so. I'm stumped. What is W's plan?

Same reason for the steel tariffs. To enlarge his base.
