Freeper Prayers needed for dying newborn girl
Self | June 2, 2002 | viligantcitizen

My fellow Freepers ;

My cousin Darryl, who is 17, and his soon to be wife, Kim, are about to lose their newborn girl, Kaitland Marie. She probably won't see the Sunday sunrise.

Kaitland Marie was born on May 17, and weighed 8pounds 6 ozs. Nothing appeared wrong, but she wouldn't breast feed.

On Tuesday, the 28st, she got sick, and her Dr. sent her to Scottish Rite in Atlanta. She was put in ICU.

Wednesday, her liver shut down. Thursday, her kidneys. The Dr.s then told Darryl and Kim that the baby had no hope of recovery.

Since Thursday, the Hospital staff has revived her 3 times after her heart stopped, against the wishes of everyone involved.

Tonight, the Dr.s have finally said no more cpr, so her time is near to be with the Lord.

Both families involved are involved with churches, and have recieved many prayers and much food.

But, I feel that someone can never use enough prayer. So, I ask for the prayers of all you freepers for the soul of this little girl, and for the families involved.

Although the parents are both young, and they were not married at the time of birth, they waited so that Kim's Father's insurance would pay for the baby. Both kid's are really good kids who really need our prayers.

Lastly, how does everyone feel that the hospital didn't care for the parents wishes not to revive?

"My sister in law used to be a nurse in newborn ICU. She suffered everytime a baby died and usually secretly baptised him/her."

People who work with very ill children are very special. I couldn't do it everyday. My ex-wife worked in a neo-natal ICU for 8 years.

Thanks for the Prayers.

Kermit...your cousin is fortunate that he has someone like yourself who cares so deeply. My prayers for your entire family that our Lord will draw all closer to Him and that they are able to derive strength and a deeper faith.
Your cousin will need you even more in the days to come. I lift you up in prayer as well.

Prayers from Canada for Kaitland, Darryl and Kim - may the Lord give them peace. Losing a child, no matter how old that child is, is always difficult.

Prayer for the entire family...

Father, God, I just want to lift up this family.. I know that you are in control of all things, and nothing happens without your knowledge. Lord I pray that this family will take the oportunity to draw closer to you, and to trust you in ALL things, even when things seem to be going bad, we can have confidence that ALL things work together for GOOD for those that love you, and are called according to your purpose, may all who read this prayer join me in praise to You for who You are.. In Christ Name I pray, Amen.....

I know what you mean, my friend. However, you never know what the prayers may do for this little girl. We lost our first born son (his was born prematurely) a day after he was born. Since he was so tiny, (1lb, 11oz) there wasn't much hope for him and he was attached to so many machines it was ridiculous. The neonatoligist came to us and told us what would happen to him if they continued to keep him alive. We decided that God wanted Scott with him, and let him go. I couldn't bear the thought of him suffering any longer. It is never easy to let a child go, whether on your own or because of an accident, or like Ryan, but sometimes you have to suffer so the child won't. Even though we only had him for a short time, we will always remember our "Scotty". :-)

The Dr also though this baby was suffering the effects of an unknown virus that the mother had picked up during pregancy. There were symptoms in the blood but they could not identify. All test were negative & they had no idea the hole in the heart was so big until they went in to fix it. The baby ate thru a feedng tube for almost a year. He spent months in neo natal ICU in a NYC hospital. It was bizzare but the baby is recovering now but it is behind in development. He is almost 2 years old now.

Thanks for sharing the story.

Of course, I'm no Dr. or medical expert. And sometimes, unexpected miracles do happen.

And Lord knows, I came real close to dying once because my unusual gall bladder stones caused weird symptoms that the Dr.'s couldn't figure out untill they did surgery, so I know Dr.s can make mistakes.

But she is in one of the best children's hospital's in the country. And her case has been reviewed by many pediatricians.

I'm pretty confident that the Dr.'s are right.

I'm so very sorry to hear about Kaitland's health problems, and have prayed that God will bless her soul, and also prayed for him to comfort the family & give them strength.

God Bless....

Dear friend and brother, having worked around medicine 18 years I understand the point you describe in this particular reply.
The decisions are so very difficult for both the family AND the dedicated staff.
(I have a niece who is a nurse who gives neonatal intensive care.)

I offer prayer for you as well as the loving parents and families of this precious child,
and their friends.
This little girl came into the world as God's Child, and it is my belief she already
is in a safe place with Him.

May the Holy Spirit surround each and everyone involved with His love and give you peace,
and may He sustain you in the days and years to come.

It was not my intent, in sharing this story, to give false hope where there is none, but as a Christan, I believe that no sparrow falls unless it is Gods will. My prayers are with you & your family.
