Governor Jeb Bush and First Lady Columba Bush will receive the "Family of Courage" Award at the 11th Annual Mothers In Crisis Anniversary Celebration this evening in Tallahassee.
The Governor and First Lady are being recognized for their continued support of the prevention of substance abuse. Established by Governor Bush, the Florida Office of Drug Control is charged with implementing the Governor's Drug Control Strategy and developing objective measures of success to ensure progress is made across the spectrum of drug control efforts. The Governor's Drug Control Strategy incorporates all aspects of solving the drug problem, including effective education, prevention, treatment and law enforcement.
In addition to the Governor's efforts, the First Lady focuses her efforts on reducing drug use among Florida's youth. As the state's leading spokesperson for prevention of youth substance abuse, Mrs. Bush, along with Director Jim McDonough, Florida Office of Drug Control, visits schools throughout the state each month to speak with youth about the dangers related to alcohol and substance abuse.
Mothers In Crisis is a non-profit, community-based organization founded by women in recovery from alcohol and other drugs. The program provides prevention, intervention and support services to at-risk families living in Leon County.

In addition to bringing real knowledge to this issue, Gov. Bush and his wife have devoted a great deal of time and effort to reducing substance abuse in this state, and their efforts deserve to be recognized.

Didn't you read any of those many links I posted to you on that thread????! I only flagged you here because I thought you had! My apologies if you didn't, and you are still stuck in that same place of misinformation / no information. I spent a LOT of time trying to provide you with real facts!

Maybe you should rent JEB the movie Traffic?
To: miamimark
Have you ever known an individual who suffers from panic attacks? Apparently not, because your insinuations are just that; you are comparing apples and oranges and by doing so, you are engaging in hypocrisy.
To: miamimark
miamimark, re your post #14 - In all honesty, his daughter is in the same system, undergoing the same procedures -- exactly -- as anyone else in this state might have chosen and could have received: drug court. She is in that system, after being arrested and getting a mug shot, and must in the future return to criminal court -- and all the other elements of that system.
Consequently, I am very confused why you and a handful of others allege that she has been given special treatment. The law applies to her as well, and she is exactly where a person arrested for the first time in this state on that charge has the option of being: in rehab. I don't know how you can honestly conclude this is hypocrisy. Read the laws I linked for you.She is a FL citizen, too. These are state LAWS - for EVERY citizen.

Consequently, I am very confused why you and a handful of others allege that she has been given special treatment. Change the name from Bush to Clinton and you would be singing a different tune=HYPOCRISY.
Kopisch?
To: miamimark
Nope. Because if you change the name from "Noelle" to "miamimark," the result in this situation, here in FL, would be the same. Consequently, I know you are in error here, and holding onto a belief that just doesn't hold up under scrutiny.

Jeb & Columba deserve this award also for the way they have handled their daughter Noelle's problem......with honesty, compassion and candor. They are an example for all Floridians who deal with a loved one's addictions.
