President Bush attended a NATO ceremony today called the 'Rome Declaration', which made Russia a junior member. Bush also raised concerns regarding the child sex scandal in the Catholic Church as he met with Pope John Paul. The President and First Lady returned to the White House late this afternoon. Here is the actual quote in this clip from Salon.com (Leave it to them to still have it)

Then Bush spotted New York Times reporter Adam Clymer, who has been with the paper since 1977, serving as national political correspondent during the 1980 presidential race, as polling editor from 1983 to 1990 and as political editor during the successful presidential campaign of Bush's father in 1988.

"There's Adam Clymer -- major league asshole -- from the New York Times," Bush said.

"Yeah, big time," returned Cheney.

Because of the crowd noise, few if any of the audience could hear the remarks. But reporters -- especially those with radio or network TV sound equipment plugged into the microphone -- heard the remark clearly. As of early afternoon Monday, media executives were reportedly deciding whether or not to use the tape.

Do you think that is why Hillary wears the same clothes? Could it be she is a man in drag?

It always gives me great pleasure to think that the witch Maureen Dowd, spinster and barren as she is, looks with envy on Laura Bush, who married the fraternity president even though she was a librarian.

Meanwhile, bitter Maureen, alone and childless, looks across the newsroom at Adam Clymer.

I think of this and smile.

Where in the world did you get that idea. Clinton did win the popular vote both in 1992 and 1996. I don't know exactly how may years it has be since a president did not win the popular vote but it is something like a hundred years.

Where can I read what the pope said. I heard that the last thing he said was Goc bless America. Any word on the pope's view on the war against terrorism?

I know this. However, it was suggest that he just spotted him and then made the remark when he was upset with Clymer's badgering of Cheney at that event. That is what prompted his remark. Bush said so himself.

Why thank you...that is a delightful image of Maureen Dowd. My opinion of Dowd is that she is trying to be Florence King (from National Review's The Misanthrope's Corner) but she doesn't have the depth to carry it off. I'm just grateful that I don't have to read her drivel.

I think there is a bit of confusion. Clinton got the most popular votes of the three (Clinton, Bush, Perot or Clinton, Dole, Perot) but he did not have a majoity of the popular votes. He got less than 50%.

No confusion here. He still WON the popular vote. He got the most votes. That is winning the popular vote.

He still received more votes than the his opponents. That is considered winning the popular vote. Doesn't matter what the percentage is. What counts is who got the most votes overall.

Bush used to be on C-span a whole lot. But I have noticed that even when the president was talking live in Normandy, C-span, had book review and a taped house session from the past week. I am not sure why c-pan doesn't cover more of him. I think someone with lots of dough should open their own tv that is for conservatives and then perhaps the president can be seen whenever he appears in public. C-span showed tee balls first game but then stopped doing it. Under white house.gov sometimes you can see the speeches that the president makes.
