President Bush attended a NATO ceremony today called the 'Rome Declaration', which made Russia a junior member. Bush also raised concerns regarding the child sex scandal in the Catholic Church as he met with Pope John Paul. The President and First Lady returned to the White House late this afternoon. Get those right-clicks ready and enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

One thing that cracks me up is that the only decision the guys really have to make is what color tie they are going to wear. They pretty much ALWAYS (George, we need to work on this) wear white shirts. They bring a few suits, and wear the same shoes. (I also hope George is being creative in the sock area...there's so much room for fun there ;-)

Laura, on the other hand, has to think of a suit--pants or skirt one; do I wear a blouse or a scarf inside my suit; did I bring the right shoes to match that outfit; and then, did I bring the right jewelry to accent it. NOT FAIR ha ha

You have made the past 16 months a beautiful experience for us with this soothing balm every night!!

Very well said there ohio. And it's the truth! Sheesh...I wouldn't know half of what W really does without the Dose. Our paper's coverage of him is very skimpy and I seldom watch any TV. I try to catch Brit Hume but I haven't seen it for a while either.

Yes, you can see the compassion and respect he has for the elderly. It just shines from him. Mama Bush certainly must be proud. I think the death of his sister really made him a very compassionate man- especially considering how he was deeply concerned for his mom.

Did you know that was a private, private audience? No aides, no translators, no press. Just President Bush and Pope John Paul.

Interesting but not surprising. Wonder how X42 will spin the parting words of Pope John Paul to Dubya which was his hope they'd meet again soon -- a far cry from his strained meeting with his Holiness.

Get out .. I was there too

Oh my gosh - that is SO Philly. Get Out !!!!!!!!!!! That was a great day. There were LITERALLY a million people there. I called my husband at a phone booth (before cell phones, LOL) and told him I would meet him under the Israel flag. We actually met up in this mass of humanity!!! For those who don't know Philadelphia, the main thorougfare is a beautiful broad boulevard that goes for many blocks, and in the nice weather, the flags of all the countries fly from the flag poles that line each side of the boulevard. It is quite a beautiful site, with the Art Museum at one end and the City Hall at the other. Mo1, Where were YOU on that glorious day???

Thank you so much for updating us on the President's European trip during what had to be a very busy and involved holiday weekend -- like everyone else who faithfully visits this thread, I GREATLY appreciate your dedication and hardwork!!!!

I love the pixes tonight; they underscore two very important points: 1.) In a very brief period of time, President Bush has developed a remarkable rapport with all of the NATO Heads of State, particularly Tony Blair and Vladimir Putin -- and, as someone else noted, these statesmen seem quite comfortable deferring to the president's leadership! and 2.) President Bush is a godly man who obviously used his time with the Pope to engage in a very heartfelt spiritual discussion concerning a wide range of worldly/otherworldly issues. As a VERY committed catholic, I was deeply touched by the president's meeting with the Pope -- the picture of them clasping hands was particularly poignant! God Bless President Bush and God Bless Pope John Paul!!

It is way to much to ask that the liberal media act civil. In fact it is impossible for them to do so.

Expecially since September 11, although occasionally before, I have had these glimmerings that we are involved in more than just politics and foreign policy. The war is not simply an earthly war, but has dimensions unseen.

If you read some of the posts written right after 9/11, you will see references by journalists not known for their literary references or religious symbolism, making comparisons. What were the comparisons?

St. George and the Dragon
King Arthur and Excalibur
Roland

All of these legendary figures were more than just heroes of epic tales....they were defenders of Christendom.

Thank you for your post, because it reinforces why I pray for the President daily. He has been called to a great task, and we are called to support him as he goes forward.

Looks like he's wearing his cowboy boots upon arrival here at home. I can't believe he is in the same suit. That long flight. I would have changed into something much for casual for sure.

Where is Laura BTW? No pics of her today.

Take a look back. Whenever there is a new Pope it is because the present one has died.

And rightly so.

This president works his tail off. His schedule would put any other person under the table, but not this man. He believes in getting the job done. Those senators can't even get a budget passed, a judge confirmed, or you name it! --course they seem to find the time to criticize GW.
