9-11 Smear-Mongering Fails to Dent Bush's Popularity

A week's worth 9-11 smear-mongering by leading Democrats and their media handmaidens has failed to dent President Bush's popularity, according to the latest CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll.

More than three-quarters of those surveyed gave Bush a positive job approval rating, despite an onslaught of politically motivated accusations that administration officials failed to connect the dots on intelligence data that could have forewarned of the 9-11 attacks.

Sixty percent of those surveyed said the information available before the attacks would not have been enough for administration officials to have predicted what was coming.

Nineteen percent said the Bush administration made "an understandable mistake."

Only 23 percent agreed that Bush officials made "a serious error" in not reading the tea leaves foreshadowing the attacks.

Leading Democrats began their full-scale assault last Thursday, with New York Sen. Hillary Clinton demanding, "What did the president know?" in advance of Sept. 11.

And while some, like House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, have softened their earlier rhetoric, on Friday Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Joe Lieberman was still invoking Watergate-like phraseology to suggest a 9-11 scandal.

"I don't think the question is the old White House question about what did he know and when did he know it?" Lieberman told radioman Don Imus. "The really more important question, as we look back, is what was he told and when was he told it?"

The CNN-USA Today-Gallup survey polled 1,000 adults between May 20-22 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.

Actually, I think W still wants everything on your list. He may feel he has to give too much away on domestic issues in order to make any headway on foreign policy...a mistake his father made.

In addition, all these bogus "Bush scandals" manufactured by the psy-ops geniuses of the left are probably meant to misdirect the attention of the public away from those domestic issues...thus buying the DEMS some election campaign issues, both for Congress AND the presidency. (shades of 1988-1992)

I'm not joking about left-wing, psy-ops geniuses. The left may not understand psyche warfare toward an enemy that wants to kill us, but they understand EVERYTHING about psyche warfare as a method of keeping the masses in line. I've studied much of the same reference material the left-wing propaganda machine has.

Do you remember the missing hard drives from Los Alamos? The ones that miracuously reappeared when the fires were encroaching and the media and the honest citizens were smelling a rat? Wen Ho Lee spent 9 mos in jail uncharged asa scapegoat and then dissapeared off the screens when they were found. Ive heard the Grant admins was pretty bad,and the Harding admin brought us the Teapot Dome Scandal, but Bill Xlinton is the sole proprietor of the most corrupt, traitorious, and immoral Administration our nation has ever seen. If the things he did were for the good of the country,he might have gotten a pass ,but this sleazy bastard served one entity and one entity only; William Jefferson Clinton.

Yep...I remember the missing hard drives. I have always thought the fires were set, too...though it was probably a cooincidence that they were set at the time of the theft of classified info. Also, you can bet your boopie those HD's were mirrored.

Another thing we can thank Clinton for is that, due to convenient paper shredders, and the VERY convenient deaths of witnesses who want to roll over on the King of Arkancide...we will probably never know ALL the truth about ANY of these incidents.

The Democrats are making the mistake of taking on Bush head-on, thankfully. They have concluded that Bush's election coattails are too long, and that they have to knock him down for the November mid-term elections for their candidates in Congress to have a chance of recapturing the House and holding the Senate.

In my opinion, that strategy is fatally flawed. Consider that two weeks ago GWB's popularity was 74%. After the most recent Democratic smear campaign (i.e. another full frontal assault) against him, his popularity ROSE to 76%. They attacked him so many times (bumbler, idiot, doesn't know foreign policy, drunk, used cocaine, stole the election, unilateralist, Bush Knew, etc.) that the public has begun to resent all of these unfounded attacks on him. The American public, per the polls, no longer trusts the political attacks against GWB.

In the meantime, not only is GWB growing more popular, but the Democrats have no issues of their own to run on. They've "dropped" the gun control issue. Only in California have they tried to bring up the abortion issue. They aren't talking about school vouchers and they aren't talking about raising taxes any longer.

Right now the Democrats have dug themselves into an all-or-nothing hole for Election 2002.

Does anyone think that they will get it All, or that they will get Nothing out of that position?

In my opinion the Democrats are going to suffer heavily in this year's election.

Their frontal attacks on GWB have failed. They've dropped their own issues, and they have little or nothing to offer the public. Unions are leaving them because they don't support the new jobs that would be created by drilling in the ANWR. Hispanics are leaving them because the Democrats have been supporting Black candidates over Hispanics in office, have no prominent hispanics in Democratic positions of internal Party power, their leaders don't speak Spanish and they were opposed to the very popular friend of Bush, President Fox, in Mexico. Blacks are leaving them because Democrats are against school vouchers and because they see positive Republican role models in JC Watts, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, and Secretary Paige. Jews are leaving them because Democrats like Hillary Clinton are kissing one of Yasser Arafat's wives, as well as because Senators such as Dodd and Boxer are schmoozing Israel's enemy in Cuba while calling for the embargo to be lifted there (thus freeing up more cooperation between Cuba and their Palestinian allies).

Plus, you've got pride in our military and pride in our nation back in vogue. Democratic Party calls for America to "change" to make the world a better place are simply NOT popular right now.

I just love the title of your post so MUCH I had to bump it up! btw-DID you happen to hear our President's comments on leaders who lead via polling practices ( while standing before the world in a press conferance with Putin )? It was so FABULOUS! Bet clinton grew even redder on his ugly mug! hehe. (At any rate-President Bush said that leaders who lead via taking polls in order to decide what to do lead by the seat of their pants -my words but the absolute gist of what he said)

At this point in his presidency, William Jefferson Clinton's postive approval rating was at 42%. His negative was 57%.

Clinton didn't hit 60% postive until his 5th year in office and then only for one month. His average that year, 1997, was around 55%.

Bush's popularity must slay the Democrats.

There is one simple fact that any political party must understand and use to be successful. The total Democrat votes for members of the house in 2,000 were almost a tie with total Republican votes. The total votes for the Senate in 2000 were evenly divided. The total votes for the President in 2,000 were evenly divided. It is beyond debate that in the wake of Clinton this nation is evenly divided between the left and right.

It may come as a shock to some, but in a two party system the winner has to get more than half the votes. That means a party must get most of its side of the spectrum and some of the other sides votes in order to win. The object is to restrict your apponents to his side of the middle line and then take some of his side.

Their are many on the left that really believe they could get the Right to vote for them if the Right just understood their wonderful arguments. Silly HUH??? Well the Right is full of people who believe that the Left would change their ways if they just understood what the Right has to offer.

NEVER IN OUR HISTORY HAS ONE PARTY BEEN STRONG ENOUGH TO WIN WITH OUT ATTRACTING SOME OF THE OTHER SIDES FOLLOWERS

The truth is the party that garners support on the other side of center always wins. Of couse when a candidate or party does that, he has to go far enough to recover the part of the base this tactic loses. Democrats are better at math. They rarely attack their guys for trying to get support from the other side. Clinton says end welfare as we know it and they applaud. They know that failure to support him could end the left as they know it. The right always says "Give me liberty or give me death!" while handing Tom Daschle their loaded 45.

Our entire political system was based on the dominance of the center. It takes 60 votes in the Senate. It takes the Senate, the House, the President, and Supreme Court to make major changes in our nation. We have a stable government because it is biased for the views of the center.

Clinton won as a new democrat. He moved to pick up some of those to the right of center. Welfare reform was done to pick up some to the right of center.

Gore lost because he stayed to the left of center. He was afraid of losing his base. Nearly all of the base comes home by election day. Both parties to win have reach out for the votes of some on the other side. It is the only way to win. It is the only way to make change. Even then the only changes made are small and incremental.

Nixon was right on one thing. To get the nomination Democrats run to the left and Republicans run to the right. To win in fall they have to run to the center. In this most evenly divided political time in our history, the candidates and party that most runs to the center will win.The winner will then move the nation slightly left or slightly right depending on who wins.

Hopes of any other outcome can not be logically held by anyone who read the 2,000 election returns.

Just the opposite would happen. People are mad now at the Democrats for constantly trying to make the war a political issue and going after Bush for one frivilious thing after the next. Another attack and Democrats will get the blame. They are getting the blame now. People are not about to diss a President when he is fighting a war. They will go after the opposition party if they think the opposition is obstructionist. And Democrats have made it very clear that is exactly what they are.

How about the reporter from Memphis? Little Rock? who was shot by a sniper? Or is that an internet rumor? Vince Foster,CNO Boorda,Ron Brown, the intern,....is it just me,or do bad things happen to those who cross the Xlintons?

I asked my Dad last year that since GWB has restored dignity to the Oval Office, should we quit badmouthing Xlinton? His response was, "Hell no! Kick him when he's down and maybe if we continue to hammer on TWA 800,Ron Brown,Vince Foster,Filegate,Chinagate,Laptopgate, Waco, Elian, the two hour airport haircut at LAX costing 250.00 and snarling ATC for hours, Monica, Pardongate, using the IRS,New Square(you know he had a hand in that),the Puerto Rican terrorists, failed health care, emasulation of the Intelligence apparat, disdain and disrespect for the military, cocaine in the Oval Office, convicted felons handling codeword material......."

I could go on and on but no one is listening.......sigh.

"reckoning". The information age is catching up with them, exposing their lies.

not really.

Only the Democrats and the Media COULD spent 8 years making the people believe that anyone who attacks a presidents is a an EVIL, Mean Spirited Perpetrator of Hate Crimes, and then try to get away with attacking a president.

Do you think the Democrats will figure it out?
