...can't decide what to wear...

I was wondering the same thing. Is this a suit-and-tie event or can a guy just show up in his underwear?

Good question. Having never been to Vegas, I don't know what the preferred dress is other than clothes...

Dio will know. I imagine it will be somewhat casual and dressy - covers both bases huh?

Well, I will be wearing casual clothing the event and business casual at the dinner.

I would recommend wearing nice, but comfortable clothing. Probably not a good idea to come barefoot and shirtless (if you are a guy, definately not if you are a woman!) We aren't enforcing a dress code.

Diotima is not ready for your high power information from some millionare boys and girls golf plonk. But consider this...If the freeping libertarians go to this convention, then the freeping whiggers (ie.dems, and rebs) will want to go too. They will say "Bill Clinton didn't inhale, and the others will say that such and such is not in the tradition of a NORML well balanced economy.

"Drugs are not the problem in our society. It is the ancilliary crimes associated with drug use." (Qts San Bernardain Sun Newspaper) Presiding Judge Michael Welch

Is anyone co-ordinating "room-shares". I have a room (non-smoking) reserved from the 15th through the morning of the 19th. I am willing to share if anyone needs a place to stay, or just wants to save a few bucks.

I am showing up a day early and staying a day after, I am willing to help out in any way I can.

Anyone who stays with me has to be able to fake a male voice if they answer the phone...in case Mrs. Fox calls.

We thought we would if people asked, but they haven't. We did one for the cruise but there weren't many participants.

Hint - I think Lowbie might need a roommate...

Does anyone know if C-SPAN will be covering any of this conference? I won't be able to attend, but would love to be able to watch the speeches on tv.

As it turns out, I am in Los Angeles area this year. Is it possible to come for the Freep in Vegas without making reservations ahead of time for the dinner/awards ceremony? Who is getting awards. I usually live south of Houston, but hubby is doing engineering design work in Claremont, Ca. this year. Is there a list of whom will be attending? I guess I need to find out more info. I have been all over Europe and even to Brazil, but never partied in Vegas, yet....

Well, if we have some folks that decide to drop in at the last minute, or if someone is on a tight budget, I am willing to share my room.

Except for freeping and sleeping, I won't be spending much time there anyway.

I will be there a day early, if any of you need some help with anything, just let me know.

Where did our conference title "FRiva Las Vegas" come from?

Well, freepers have this inordinant tendency to put an "FR" in front of any word they can!

The 1964 movie, "Viva Las Vegas" was one of Elvis Presley's best movies. It succeeded largely due to the chemistry between Elvis and the gorgeous, flame-haired, talented Ann Margaret.

Many scenes were shot in and around the Flamingo Hotel pool. In the movie, Elvis wants to enter the Las Vegas Grand Prix. His adventures and amours center around his job as a hotel employee where he's hoping to earn enough money to repair his racing car.

"Viva Las Vegas" (the hit song in the film) is fast, attractive, lean and mean. It's great Elvis! The fade-out note that he hits at the finale is one of the most remarkable of his career.

Working behind Elvis in the band sessions was a little-know guitarist, Glen Campbell, later to become a famous recording star in his own right.

For the year 1964, "Viva Las Vegas" was number 11 in movie ratings and it grossed in excess of $5 million (a goodly sum 38 years ago!).

The chemistry between Elvis and Ann Margaret both on and off the screen was sensational. The gossip columnists had a field day. But each eventually went their own ways. Elvis and Ann Margaret remaind friends until his death.

FReepers will meet FReeper FRiends at "FRiva Las Vegas" in August! FReep the FRegistration form right away!

FRegards, Leni
