Where did our conference title "FRiva Las Vegas" come from?

Well, freepers have this inordinant tendency to put an "FR" in front of any word they can!

The 1964 movie, "Viva Las Vegas" was one of Elvis Presley's best movies. It succeeded largely due to the chemistry between Elvis and the gorgeous, flame-haired, talented Ann Margaret.

Many scenes were shot in and around the Flamingo Hotel pool. In the movie, Elvis wants to enter the Las Vegas Grand Prix. His adventures and amours center around his job as a hotel employee where he's hoping to earn enough money to repair his racing car.

"Viva Las Vegas" (the hit song in the film) is fast, attractive, lean and mean. It's great Elvis! The fade-out note that he hits at the finale is one of the most remarkable of his career.

Working behind Elvis in the band sessions was a little-know guitarist, Glen Campbell, later to become a famous recording star in his own right.

For the year 1964, "Viva Las Vegas" was number 11 in movie ratings and it grossed in excess of $5 million (a goodly sum 38 years ago!).

The chemistry between Elvis and Ann Margaret both on and off the screen was sensational. The gossip columnists had a field day. But each eventually went their own ways. Elvis and Ann Margaret remaind friends until his death.

FReepers will meet FReeper FRiends at "FRiva Las Vegas" in August! FReep the FRegistration form right away!
