This is a special double-edition daily dose due to FR being down yesterday...
President Bush and his administration were in the defensive today as Democrats and the media swarmed around revelations that the President was given a general warning about possible hijackings before September 11th. It was revealed later in the day that the very same Democrats leading the negative charge, Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, also knew of the briefings yet failed to let the media know. By the end of the day, it was the Republicans in Congress leading the charge and taking the Democrats to task for their usual games of partisan slander.
This afternoon, in a move to give the public more knowledge on the exact nature of the briefings, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice confronted the media with detailed national security intelligence in the months leading up to September 11th. It was made clear that the intelligence briefings given to the President were not specific or detailed enough to prevent the suicide bomber attacks.
In much lighter news, the President began the day at the First Annual National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. Later he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: I want to reiterate: It was not a warning. There was no specific time, place or method mentioned. What you have seen in the run-up that I've talked about is that the FAA was reacting to the same kind of generalized information about a potential hijacking as a method that al Qaeda might employ, but no specific information saying that they were planning such an attack at a particular time. ~ Condoleezza Rice

Just finished watching the Reagan Medal Ceremony for the second time! I was so moved by it! What a great President he was.
And it was so noticeable that the current wonderful President knew whereof he spoke, when he talked about this man of courage and character, and the total love and devotion the Reagan's had for each other! He shares those qualities with the Gipper!

Me too-but do you happen to know the room that the President and Mrs Reagan are standing in? Kind of interesting-very 'air force'.

Thanks for the writeup of today's doings. I hope this is another time bomb waiting to expose a lot of Rats and what they were doing to obstruct Bush's administration.
