I don't think that there would be a need to quarantine people for a poison gas attack. It wouldn't be contagious. This sounds like something else entirely. They said they suspect poison gas. But they are obviously playing it safe and quarantining people in case they are wrong and it is, God forbid, some sort of bio-attack.

Unless some of the precious cargo was transported immediately via another means last Friday when the tractor trailer was first hijacked.

From the Mayor of Yonkers:
Any indication of suspected cyanide gas or other poison may have been consumed by residents in a fourth floor apartment at 223 Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers.
Two women are on life support.
Ingested orally?

Something is going on. It's not mass hysteria. Two women wouldn't be on life support otherwise. The mayor stated it isn't an airborne contaminant. What exactly does he mean by that? I am surprised the cable networks haven't picked this up yet.

Yonkers is "diverse".

Only the Emergency Room is shut down, probably to keep out the media.

I think it would be unlikely the Mexican product would be used this quickly. Of course that dismisses the possiblity that this was a slam bam operation. Anything is remotely possible, I guess. If I were the authorities I wouldn't rule ANYTHING out.

Wasn't the cyanide stolen on Sunday just north of Mexico City? It would have made it to the border by Monday and to make it to NY by today or yesterday wouldn't take all that much ---2 drivers could easily do it and still sleep a little along the way.

Why no cable coverage????????
To: FITZ
channel 5 in NY just reported this story, no details.

Very good point. However, quaranteens can be implemented as a safety measure in the first moments of a serious situtation as a precaution. Better to take no chances.

If it's in a gas state, a gas mask will protect you from inhaling it. Unfortunately, it can also penetrate through your pores (although to a lesser extent than the liquid state) leaving you vulnerable (especially if you are sweaty).

...copious amounts of hydrochloric acid should be pretty easy to come by without attracting any attention. Vinegar would work just fine, as would tomato juice or orange juice!
Cyanide is very common at plating and metal treatment facilities. We would go through through half-a-dozen or so 55-gallon drums of the stuff (in briquette form) per month. It's not used as much as it was even 16 years ago when I was dealing with it every day, but there often aren't any substitutes.

They will.................wait a minute!
