When was the last time that you heard of East Timor before this?

Last year. I don't recall what it was in reference to, but there was some unrest in the region and, as usual, we were sticking our noses into it.

I haven't heard any official announcements. I found this on Yahoo though, at the link below....

An administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Tuesday the White House plans to announce the selection once the delegation is completed. They cautioned that Bush's decision won't be final until the complete delegation is formed, and that could take a few more days.

It will be interesting to note Bill Clinton's demeanor and comportment as a hand picked member of President Bush's delegation to East Timor. I do hope Mr. Clinton will be able to contain his roving eyes and hands and not embarrass our President unneccessarily and/or nation by any behavior that is beyond the pale.

And, bar the stores that sell bathing suit thongs.

"That said, I think it's a tremendous mistake to give this man any legitimacy, and assignments representing the US - no matter how insignificant - do add legitimacy."

If it were my decision to make, I would certainly do as you suggest and not give X42 anyhing official to do.

But it isn't.

And I don't mind criticizing him for doing this - but at the same time - I do see the humor in it.

It's just that rape and treason are not very funny to most of us.

Apparently he has not pissed off 77 percent of the country 8 months removed from 911. Get a grip!!! East Timor, for cripe sakes. It's nothing, no where. It gets him out of the country and keeps his mouth shut about the middle east. Presidents have used ex-Presidents for this kind of "back page news" for eons. You guys sure are amusing.

I can't believe this. You can't appease Democrats. You would be better off making friends with a cobra. Didn't he learn anything from Dad's experience? "Read my lips...well, maybe just a little tax...'cause the Democrats are sure we need it."

The officials say the selection is meant as a peace overture to Clinton, whose presidency has been criticized repeatedly by Bush...

----------------

When was this criticism? I, personally, have never heard any.

Bush is nuts. Anything that that confers any recognition or respectability of any kind upon the Clintons is an act of treason.

We want the RATS to sit it out in 2004 ----- not us!

I disagree Doug. In the last decade, what was the best year for government? My choice is 95, right after the election of 94. Remember that, GOP landslide, Contract with America. What made it all possible? Letting the Dems run things for 2 years. What gave us Ronald Reagan? 4 years of Carter!

I don't advocate anyone sitting out. They should vote for some third party schmuck rather than not vote. Not voting is the only wasted vote because candidates don't give a damn about people that don't vote. But this urge to vote for any weasely GOP for fear of losing one election to the Dems will only insure we never get anything but weasely GOPers. I'll not be voting for Bush again (and not because of this but because of not investigating Clinton era crimes).

I do fear losing one election --- to Hillary Clinton. If these were normal times and the RATS were not controlled by the far left who hate this country, we might have more on which we could agree. Hillary changes everything. It is not hyperbole. She could destroy this nation. You know very well there is nothing she would not do for power.

If it is Hillary, then you are probably right and I might have to vote for W, if it looks close. I don't think I will have to worry about that, though. (I hope)

Bush Says He Wants to Let Clinton 'Move On'
"Listen, here's my view: I think it's time to get all of this business behind us. I think it's time ... to allow the president to finish his term, and let him move on and enjoy life and become an active participant in the American system. And I think we've had enough focus on the past. It's time to move forward."

NIA then told him that her fervent wish was to meet with President Clinton to convey her profound sadness in seeing so much human suffering in this world and to plead with President Clinton, the leader of the most powerful Nation on the earth, to intervene and to put a stop to the endless violence and suffering. NIA mentioned and told about places like Timor, Aceh, Ambon and Irian, even though NIA had never attended an Indonesian school, she appeared to know those places. "Bush is nuts. Anything that confers any recognition or respectability of any kind upon the Clintons is an act of treason."

Perhaps it's compassionate treason though. What a great article Robert, thanks for your work. 'We are struggling to find a balance in our two countries to not just tolerate people who are different, but actually venerate those differences, respect them, celebrate them, in the context of our common humanity,' Let's all hold hands and hum. George W. Bush has sent Tenet back to the Middle East to help build a Palestinian security force to fight terrorism. LOL! But I have it on good authority that Tenet is taking his diversity quilt. That should do it. Hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

"President Clinton was deeply involved in helping bringing about a peaceful resolution to East Timor," the Bush administration official said."
