But in this case they've put the spotlight on kids in the choir who would have to stand there and take heat for not singing.

I don't know who you are referring to when you say "they", but the article suggests it is the mother who is spotlighting her kids in this situation. I'll just bet if these girls had quietly told their music director that they chose to opt out of the singing of "The Lord's Prayer", he/she would have let them, even though it does state the choir (the word, itself, implies religious music) is "required to perform at graduation".

I doubt any "heat" would have been taken by the twins for not singing except for now that their mother has made such a fuss.

It makes me think, again, about a kid in my first grade class who was a Jehovah's Witness. He did not say the "Pledge of Allegiance" with the rest of us. He stood up, but did not place his hand on his heart or recite any words. The only ribbing he got from the rest of us was because his name was "Pieter". Pronounced "Peter", but we all called him "Pie Eater". (Well, you know...it WAS 1st grade...)

These people are just taking part of the great American sport: sue someone, anyone. Why, these nobodies might even make TV. Just look, a crazy follower of ben Laden flies a plane into a building and his unfit mother instead of being sue has the nerve to sue the zit medication she fradulently obtained for him.

Just wondering if there is a Web site which lists people filing these crazy lawsuits. The public should be warned about these individuals.

You may think your point is feasible and the other side of reason, all awhile it has no reasoning nor common sense. No public school anywhere would sing chants to the devil or Wonder Woman or Batman or The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or Marilyn Manson; at any public graduation or ceremony.

Simply put, fair or like it or not- look in your wallet or handbag and read what the money says, "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Sorry....like it or not, God rules. AMERICA,AMERICA, GOD SHED HIS GRACE ON THEE.

"You find out really quick who your fair-weather friends and who your real friends are," Skarin said

My guess is lots of folks in her town feel the same about her.

What is with these libs that move in small towns for that something thier big liberal towns just don't have and try to change what that something is that makes them so great and attractive to them to begin with, but they just don't get that. I haven't read that whole story, so I don't know if this is the case here, but you read this type of thing happening a lot where big city liberal types have moved into small rural communities like this.

someday ...........

Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Philippians 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; 11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

(the Founding Fathers) wanted to avoid the creation of a Catholic Maryland and an Anglican Virginia and a Presbyterian North Carolina. They, rightly, saw such sectarian allegiances on the part of the individual states as a recipe for disaster.

News to me. I know of nothing in the founding documents which even hints at restricting the states from passing any law they wished in matters of religion.

I wonder how you might feel if you learned that your child's school was teaching your children to sing Pagan chants to Pagan Gods?

Well, our choir did sing John Lennonist's "Imagine".

It is more than that. They are hostile to the Christian religion. Look at who is representing them. Do a search on some of the names.

Get a good lawyer to represent your views and while your at it you might as well file suit against The President of The United States.

Just so we make this more clear, we can look to the First Amendment, which in pertinent part states that 'Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..' Every state constitution dating from the Colonial period contains the same or similar language. . .

Wrong again.

Constitution of South Carolina - March 19, 1778

XXXVIII. That all persons and religious societies who acknowledge that there is one God, and a future state of rewards and punishments, and that God is publicly to be worshipped, shall be freely tolerated. The Christian Protestant religion shall be deemed, and is hereby constituted and declared to be, the established religion of this State. That all denominations of Christian Protestants in this State, demeaning themselves peaceably and faithfully, shall enjoy equal religious and civil privileges. . .

. . . .But that previous to the establishment and incorporation of the respective societies of every denomination as aforesaid, and in order to entitle them thereto, each society so petitioning shall have agreed to and subscribed in a book the following five articles, without which no agreement for union of men upon presence of religion shall entitle them to be incorporated and esteemed as a church of the established religion of this State:

1st. That there is one eternal God, and a future state of rewards and punishments.

2d. That God is publicly to be worshipped.

3d. That the Christian religion is the true religion

4th. That the holy scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are of divine inspiration, and are the rule of faith and practice.

5th. That it is lawful and the duty of every man being thereunto called by those that govern, to bear witness to the truth.

And that every inhabitant of this State, when called to make an appeal to God as a witness to truth, shall be permitted to do it in that way which is most agreeable to the dictates of his own conscience. . .

But they will sing the Fabian Socialist song, apparently. See Leftwing Word Games & Religious Freedom.

Maybe if they wre not so full of their own anger against American cultural tradition, the twins would not look so unpleasant. They might even be able to live normal lives. Their mother has a lot to answer for, but of course the media will never cover that aspect of the story.

So the Skarin's are claiming the school is FORCING the girls to sing in the choir? I doubt that very much. Why don't they just not sing?
