New York Sen. Hillary Clinton said Friday that it's time to step up efforts to process DNA evidence against men accused of rape before they can rape again.
"We've had a steep increase in the number of reported rapes here in New York City," Clinton complained to the New York Times, which didn't report her remarks till Monday.
"It is now apparent that unless we process this information and start putting it to use, we are likely to see people who are serial rapists continue their crimes when we could have apprehended them before they could strike again."
The former first lady made no mention of the allegations against her own husband, who was accused of rape three years ago by Arkansas businesswoman Juanita Broaddrick, who said she was brutally assaulted while attending a 1978 nursing home convention.
Still, the rape allegation in her own backyard has apparently left Mrs. Clinton unfazed. She charged that the delay in processing rape evidence is "just unacceptable" and pledged to provide "adequate funding to ensure that the backlog of unanalyzed rape kits is eliminated."
Sen. Clinton is sponsoring legislation that would provide federal money to help pay for the analysis of DNA samples in as many as 500,000 rape kits, the Times said.
"Every two minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted," Mrs. Clinton contended - without mentioning other sexual assault allegations lodged against her husband, such as the one by former White House volunteer Kathleen Willey.
Still, Mrs. Clinton, who established Arkansas' first rape crisis hotline the same year her husband allegedly attacked Ms. Broaddrick, sounded adamant about her new anti-rape legislation.
"There are lots of problems we have today in law enforcement," she said. "But this is a solvable problem. We shouldn't go another year without dealing with it."
Sen. Clinton has never commented on Ms. Broaddrick's rape allegation against her husband. And no mainstream journalist has ever broached the topic with her.
Lost in the Clinton-as-rapist hoohaw is this thought:
the DNA profiling backlog, as Hillary describes it,
is leaving at large suspects who could be brought
in sooner rather than later ("shouldn't go another year").
Marc Rich was already convicted, though at large,
and for funding the Clintons (Hillary included), was
pardoned and given his freedom. Hillary wants
to take your money to speed up the possible
apprehension of criminals on the one hand, while
taking money from convicted criminals on the
other to set them free.

Well hell,I wonder why.It couldn't be that particular section of New York, where a known slick rapist has a office,called HARLEM!
While this may be true about her,Sam Donaldson DID ask Bubba-1 at least 3 times if he raped Juanita. This was during the long period where Bubba-1 was refusing to have press conferences,and for some strange reason the media accepted this without complaint. At any rate,Donaldson had to shout the question to Bubba-1 as he was walking towards the WH helicopter,and Bubba-1 always acted like he didn't hear him.
