[history]
Today's Washington Post/ABC News poll indicates that President Bush still enjoys a 78% approval rating -- unchanged during the last month!! 81% support his campaign against terror; 70% support his conduct of foreign affairs; and 64% support his management of the economy (up 2% from January). I view these numbers as incredibly positive given the level of criticism that President Bush has received lately from Democrats (particularly those already running for the 2004 nomination) and their pandering buddies/buddiettes in the media. BOTTOMLINE: 8 out of 10 Americans STILL approve of this president's job performance!!! NOTE: Any movement in the President's ...

That's right. No one should become complacent.
To: DrDeb
If an ABC gives Bush that high a poll number the he must really be at about 100% right now.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American public nor the ability of the Democrats to rig an election.

But the real polls say that even right now Bush and Gore are both locked at 44%. MEGA BS!

Let's not forget, John Zogby is the worlds best Arab-Muslim pollster. No sarcasm intended. Just ask his brother James Zogby, President of the Arab-American Institute and head of the Democratic Ethnic Coordinating Council, of the DNC.

Welcome to FR....what a very nice first post you have made.....even though the numbers remain high for Bush we still must work very hard to get a GOP majority in the Senate & a bigger majority in the House.....it's critical to get Judicial nominees passed and Bush's agenda accomplished.
To: Samwise
No kidding which makes it all the more important to insure that the 'base' turns out in November and sends plenty of GOPers to the House and Senate. All these people that say they want to send Bush a message should realize the best way to send him a message is to get him more GOP support, not the other way around.

Actually, I find the tired tactic of "downplaying" success (for the purpose of keeping one's base "motivated") to be disingenuous, flawed, pessimistic, and manipulative.
Complacency and apathy are certainly enemies of our cause, but they are no where near the level of threat that eternal pessimism brings.
GWB is ahead in the polls. He's ahead on the street. He's ahead on the issues. He's getting large parts of his agenda enacted into law, too (over the infinite "objections" of his opponents).
Lying to say that Gore is "even" with GWB if elections were held today is more than dishonest, it is also demoralizing when it comes from our side. There is no need for such specious shenanigans.
The Right is smashing the Left in Austria, Taiwan, Denmark, Italy, Mexico, Spain, Israel, Russia, and the U.S. The Right is even making decent progress in France and Germany.
We shouldn't be downplaying these victories, no matter the motive.

Remember that Zogby is PRO-Arafat. His brother James is president of some Arab organization & worked for Satan Gore. Beware of Zogby.

Another typical Wash Post trick: If you have to publish something that might give aid and comfort to Republicans, make up any title (even if both false and irrelevant to the article) that will make it appear to have favored the Left.

But how can this be? The world's best pollster (sarcasm), John Zogby, says that Bush's support is now "only" 69%. Might be a "hidden agenda" working here...

Fox did a piece tonight on the migration of Jewish voters to the right because of the President's handling of the Israel/Palestine crisis. This could get interesting.Yes. Very interesting. Something to watch...
To: DrDeb
How disappointed the media must be. Afterall they have tried all month to get the public, including Pubbies to lose all faith in President Bush. They have used every trick in the book, the mideast crisis, the oil companies, the war, etc. and still his numbers are high!
To: Southack
We shouldn't be downplaying these victories Developing oil in ANWR was a major issue for the Right. Even though the Left is wrong about almost everything about ANWR, they won in the Senate for the time being. Maybe that wasn't the big issue of the week, but it points out that the Right is not winning everything. This midterm election year will set the scene for the rest of this Administration and right now it looks fifty-fifty. It is not time to celebrate, there is much to be done.

Fox did a piece tonight on the migration of Jewish voters to the right because of the President's handling of the Israel/Palestine crisis. One issue voters who are fickle in the extreme. Check out what happened to Carter in 1980, Reagan in 1984 and Bush in 1992:
THE ISRAEL SWING FACTOR: HOW THE AMERICAN JEWISH VOTE INFLUENCES U.S. ELECTIONS
You can go back even further to see what was done to Eisenhower and Nixon. Liberal is the default setting. One wrong sentence can trigger a default. There has been no shift ever in ideology, just who can deliver best on Israel.
