67-YEAR-OLD RONALD LACKIE CONFRONTS PRO-TERRORIST DEMONSTRATORS IN KETTERING, OHIO
phone conversation with Ronald Lackie ^ | 4-21-02 | Doug from Upland

Posted on 04/21/2002 4:59:08 PM PDT by doug from upland

I had the pleasure today to briefly speak to a Dayton, Ohio resident who has guts. He is 67-year-old Ronald Lackie who on Saturday confronted a group of 50 pro-Palestinian anti-American &**&&$#s, including economic professor Ribhi Daoud.

According to the Dayton Daily News, Lackie tore up (poor baby) Daoud's little protesting sign. Perhaps that wouldn't have happened if the pole from the sign had not struck and bloodied Lackie. Gee, how did that happen?

The confrontation began with Lackie suggesting from inside his minivan that the protestors were wrong. Duh, it doesn't a genius to know that the violence will stop when the terrorist murderers stop killing innocent civilians at pizza parlors. He gave them a simple message: You are wrong; Israel is right. They really didn't enjoy being forced to face reality and be yanked out of their parallel universe.

According to Lackie, the protestors attacked him first. They hit his hand, his arm, and then his head. He is still is disbelief that no one in the community would come to his aid. He has lived there 25 years and is now considering moving.

Lackie went to a few commercial establishments he knew to call the police, however, they were closed. When he came back to the scene, an "idiot" with a cell phone had called the police and was trying to blame the incident on Lackie, the one who was beaten and bloodied.Lackie sought emergency medical treatment, was stitched up, and went home. An attorney will be getting a call on Monday morning.

Another FReeper, grammymoon, had beaten me to the call. Lackie told me that I was the "second one of you guys" to contact him. He has already done his first lurking.

If anyone in the Dayton area can get the name of the group who organized the protests or any direct information about what happened, our new honorary FReeper could use your help.

Dr. Ribhi Daoud of Sinclair Community College, a native of Palestine, a US citizen with over 20 years' residence in this country, and a Muslim,...While stressing that there is no justification in terrorist acts, Dr. Daoud expressed the "religious-political sensitivity" of those in the Arab world.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in which the US has been supporting Israel, is one such sensitive area. Dr. Daoud accused Israel of "state-sponsored terrorism" which has led to the deaths of many innocent people, destruction of homes, and the creation of a large number of refugees. The second holiest shrine in Islam is in Israeli-occupied Jerusalem. What is more, the bombing of Iraq every week, he said, has caused the deaths of many thousands of innocent victims and has inflamed emotions around the world. Terrorism is grounded in the desire to seek revenge, to change perceived injustices, or to achieve political and economic gains.

I too just spoke with Mr. Lackie. He is one great, true American!

It doesn't surprise me that the media failed to report his side of the story! He Never hit anyone, he was the victim!

Looking forward to his participation on FR!

To: syriacus,
The second holiest shrine in Islam is in Israeli-occupied Jerusalem.

Al Asqua is now the second holiest shrine? Muslims had always called it the third holiest before this week, but (with the way their propaganda works) by next week it may be tied with Mecca. And to think it's in a city not even mentioned in the Koran.

Let's hear it for Ronald Lackie, a gutsy American!

Local peace demonstration disrupted Man stops car, tangles with demonstrators

By Ben Sutherly

Dayton Daily News

KETTERING | A 67-year-old Kettering man disrupted a peace demonstration Saturday at Dorothy Lane and Far Hills Avenue, struggling with a Sinclair Community College professor and other demonstrators.

Ronald D. Lackie stopped his silver Chrysler minivan about 4:20 p.m. on Dorothy Lane just west of the intersection and traded angry words with demonstrators, who stood at the northwest corner holding signs and greeting honking drivers.

Lackie left his vehicle in the street, confronted the crowd of about 50, and grabbed a placard held by Ribhi Daoud, a Sinclair economics professor. The placard read, "Stop Israeli Occupation of Palestine to End the Violence."

"He grabbed my sign and he tore it apart," Daoud said.

Other demonstrators restrained Lackie. He drove off before Kettering police arrived, but later returned. Officer Eileen Gibson, the first police officer to arrive, confronted Lackie. "Sir, get in your car," Gibson repeatedly told Lackie, who was bleeding from his left ear. "I haven't even gotten the story yet."

"You're going to listen to them?" Lackie said. "They're a bunch of liars."

Still livid after completing a police report, Lackie sat in his van and said, "Those people should all be put in jail. They're a menace to America."

Daoud said Lackie slowed on Dorothy Lane and hurled words such as "foreigners" and "terrorists" at the crowd, many of whom are of Arab descent.

"We told him to keep on going, to get out of there," Daoud said. "Then he stopped the van, got out of the van, and said, 'Who's first?’ ”

"How could some individual become so disrespectful to our rights?" Daoud asked. "For someone to stop and threaten us and attack us, this is indeed shocking."

Lackie said the demonstrators infringed on his rights, cursing at him when he made a pro-Israeli remark from his van.

"A protest can go two ways," Lackie said.

Asked how he approached the crowd, Lackie said, "After you're cursed at and threatened, you're not exactly dragging your feet." He denied attacking the demonstrators.

The sudden scuffle stunned many in the peace demonstration. Pamela Eissa, a Centerville resident whose sandal was broken during the struggle, said Saturday's demonstration was her first. She hadn't expected a disturbance.

"He was saying he was going to make us get the hell out," Eissa said

The demonstration was meant as a local sign of solidarity with a peace demonstration in Washington, D.C. That demonstration, like Kettering's, was critical of U.S. policy in the Mideast and the government's war against terrorism.

No arrests were reported in the nation's capital or — at least for now — in Kettering.

"We're not going to arrest anyone at this time," Sgt. Kevin Kavanaugh said.

Kavanaugh said the case will be passed to the law department to determine if Lackie or Daoud will be charged.

I guess it gives the demonstrators some kind of sick satisfaction to whip up on a 67 year old man.

Give 'em hell, Mr. Lackey. I get a visual of a Patton-like character repeating one of his famous lines "Well, you SOB'S, you know how I feel".
